martin Dust seems to talk with Andy often, and said he believed Plaid aren't signed to Warp anymore.

i just hope we are able to see new stuff in the future, because i believe they won't be bothered by label issues.

why would they tour the warp20 then? it makes no sense

The Forgemasters aren't signed to Warp anymore, but they were there at the Warp20 Sheffield gig.

that's old news mate. it's been talked about on here before, ages ago.. at one point they were no longer signed with Warp because they'd made all the music they'd signed up to make under their contract and it was all released, from what i gather. no doubt they had to sign something new though (again) before the latest tracks on the Warp20 box set were released. and obviously the same thing will happen again for Scintilli. they'll have to sign a new contract again, for that album, or maybe even 2, or 3, or 30+ EP's. :) depends. but that's only if they want Warp to release it. but i don't see why they wouldn't?? Warp is where they belong really.

i know it was known Plaid had done all the music for their contract with Warp.

just thought ken's and martin's words were said in the sense that they had somehow broke the connection with Warp.

i hope that never happens

but one never knows

i very very very much doubt it. Warp are good to all of their artists, from what i've heard. they actually pay you on time and quite well !

it used to be 50/50....

i don't see why they wouldn't want to deal with Warp again. unless they've been messed about so many times now that they're sick of them.

People need to get over the idea that a band needs a label to release music...

obviously. these days you can easily do it all yourself if you've got a bunch of money and lots of free time on your hands!

but it's a lot lot easier to just let an already established label handle it professionally for you isn't it, if you have that option.

Why would anyone be interested in the contracts? A purchase is the only business side a fan gets involved in, they shouldn't need to delve any deeper than that really. Plaid, boards, afx will release music somewhere and that is all that matters, and for profiles like that it doesn't matter what label it is.

wasn't the first thing Warp put out by them? track with no name??

would've made sense to feature them at that gig if they had a decent live show organised..

as for Plaid, they'll be back on Warp, sooner or later, imo.

Andy said in an interview almost 3 years ago now that they weren't signed to Warp anymore. so that's waaaaay gone, past knowledge.

their contract probably expired after Greedy Baby. hence why they went off to Japan and did 2 OST's between 2006-2008.

then 1 new track and a new remix appeared on Warp20 boxset last year.. 2009

Warp still list all of Plaids live gigs on warp.net .. to this day

Plaid played at Warp20 which i hear included a load of new material.. which is most probably from the forthcoming album (on Warp)

nobody's really gonna give Plaid a better deal than Warp are they? or they'd have released it already elsewhere, no? if it's done that is.

this is all just common sense/ powers of deduction and reason. :)

i might be happier if they weren't on warp. after hearing about the refusal of spokes (1st edition) and warp asking them to "tone it down" i'd rather they were somewhere they could be free. but maybe they've spent these last couple of years trying to reason with warp about this whole ordeal....

Who cares.

Is there something Im missing, because Plaid arent going to sound any different on some other (or no) label.

Fuck that labels, lets have some music please.

but then why does Warp let Autechre do what ever the fuck they want???????? (cos they have a bigger following and sell more?)

bollocks to tone it down please. people don't want that! and nobody at Warp should say that!?? *clings on to a slither of their history* :(

yeah it was the first thing releaed on Warp. unfortunately their performance at Warp20 was quite shit. at least i wasn't impressed. but then again, everyone knows what a cunt i am.

just the fact that Warp still list all their live gigs lends more credence to them actually being signed to Warp at the moment (not to say that their contract didn't once end, and has subsequently been re-done).

Not as big a deal as people are making out of it though.
