Guest uptown devil
cool, thanks for the suggestions. the tokina 11-17mm f2.8 looks pretty awesome and the reviews are solid as well. my only issue with it is that it doesn't have an internal focus motor, which means it won't auto-focus on the d5000. i haven't done much manual focusing, as all three of my lenses are AF-S, so i really don't know how much of a limitation this poses as. i'm thinking it would be worth it for how fast and wide the lens is.. i probably should learn how to manually focus anyway, and i imagine in the (distant) future i will upgrade to a full frame sensor body capable of auto-focusing on AF lenses. goffer
The wider you go the larger your dof will be which in turn makes missing focus a lot harder... so on the 11mm end at f8 you should be able to shoot just about anything at infinity. Braintree
Hey guys, I'm interested in making short videos. Can you guys give me suggestions for a good quality, but affordable camera? Something with the quality of the video that Mirezzi posted... On 11/4/2010 at 6:54 PM, The Overlook said: For those interested in that, here is literally the very first thing I shot in video with my D7000. Of note, you can't shoot handheld without producing unbearably jittery footage. I used my neck strap's tension to fake a third point of contact. Also, I shot this in 1/320 shutter speed; hence, it looks like Saving Private Ryan, which is rather ridiculous. This is a 720p down-rez, but nonetheless it gives you an idea of how nice things can look. http://vimeo.com/16506100 EDIT: IPB doesn't recognize Vimeo embeds with media tag? Bullshit. I know a little about photography, but nearly nothing about video/film. I know that for my camera, I really wish I had the 11-16 Tokina a year or so ago when I was overseas. It is definitely sharper compared to the kits lens (Canon 18-55).. especially when in manual focus, as I don't notice any fringing (chromatic aberration) at all Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide jeremymacgregor87's signature Hide all signatures profundity Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/61152-watmm-photographers/page/6/#findComment-1664945 Share on other sites
