I was going to say it's the exact opposite of that but I sort of agree that it is definitely on the clinical side. stripped-down. however the feels are there.

all else failing, I'd suggest Fabriclive.50, that is the finest achievement of this style imo.

Have you guys heard Felix K's album Flowers Of Destruction? There's samples up at Hard Wax. He's veered towards a very Basic Channel techno-influenced sound on this album but it's still minimal drum and bass, just different. Don't think it got a thread on WATMM but I'm really into it. One of the tracks even has the 'we are the music makers' sample in it (at 3:20 in the video below).

hot.

I've got that scope compilation that clarity track is from.

https://bleep.com/release/46824-various-artists-scope

it starts out bordering on ambient and ends with some pretty energetic tracks.

Was real fond of this sound little while back, glad to have bought a fair few records coming out of the scene that are now worth a bit of coin.

A few favourites

DB1 on Hidden Hawaii

SHSJ - can D - Free download this one

Nether on space cadets

besides the big labes (exit etc) I'd recommend , Hidden Hawaii, Space Cadets, some of the newer 31 records, Alphacut, subtle Audio and Pinecone Moonshine (although the majority of their releases are jungle) and Darkestral

Glad to see this thread still alive and kicking. Exit Records Mosaic vol 2 is one of the craziest things I've heard. Some serious modern IDM beats with a DNB suit on.

I recently uploaded a mix of Autonomic stuff. There's about 4 of my own tracks mixed in there. Check it out if you guys are interested:

Looking forward to checking some of the artists in this thread I'm not familiar with. Good look, fellas & ladies.

one of the recent ElectronicExplorations mixes is a minimal/experiemental 170bpm set by Presha of Samurai Horo label. Pretty nice:

That Felix K 'Flowers Of Destruction' was an excellent recommendation. I've been through the album several times and love it. Thanks for that!

^ I haven't heard that yet! I'm guessing since it's under the Kid Drama moniker and not Jon Convex, it's more autonomic territory than the house/electo stuff from the JC catalogue

Ooh, I slept on that EP. Gonna grab it soon. I recognize the song in that clip from the Heart Drive podcast, which is phenomenal. I've listened to it a few dozen times.

yeah, love that Heart Drive podcast.

I think these sounds, and the HD podcast in particular, capture a certain vibe perfectly.

mainly like the (now-cliched) themes of the futuristic dystopian love-story, cybernetic sensuality, robot/cyborg love, etc etc. every time I hear, say, White Snares, I think of Major Kusanagi sleeping in bed next to someone, light playing off the curves of her shell. or when I listen to bits of Heart Drive, I recall scenes from Blade Runner with Rachel and Deckard in his apartment.

I've described it pretty badly but I think it nails that vibe perfectly, more so than any other kind of music I've heard in years. I find it can be a very intimate/emotive sound, as well as being so liquid and exact production-wise. the drum sounds and rhythms are delicious.

That's totally it. There's a track on the Exit Records Mosaic 2 compilation that puts me in Blade Runner every time I listen to it.

But mostly what I love about this style is it just sounds like some happy medium centered between dubstep, IDM, & dnb. All the production prowess of the best electronica but still in a danceable/mixable form.

I can't get enough of this fucking jam:

Got the Kid Drama 'In Mind' EP and it's beautiful.

Would like to give props/second the recommendation for the Electronic Explorations podcast posted above. That one's great.

if these trax aren't 2 of the best dnb trax released in the last couple of years than fuck I'm an idiot

jack sparrow is an absolute beast in dubstep and dnb

dat fuckin build up to the drill'n'bass breakdown at 3:37

this track sounds like it glides on warm vaseline through fancy shopping centers in 2001 at night when no one is around

Man...I'm realllly feeling those tunes, but a little disappointed they hover around 160. Too slow for my crate. :(

Still gonna grab em to listen to tho. :)

right? I was a little surprised by those tracks on the circaidian LP by jack sparrow. most was 140, a couple of 130, and then those two almost-dnb trax

...another mix in this style:

Just signed a single of tunes in this style to Gradient Audio as well, that should be out in Jan, if not Feb.

Someone else post something so it doesn't seem like I created this thread just to spam my work!

Heart Drive just put up Episode 2!!!

Brilliant podcast. There's a tune in there that I'm 90% sure is a tune by Consequence but now has the addition of full lyrics from a female vocalist. I want it.
