I am very happy with the new Clark subforum. It seems to me that each of the featured artists have created a little genre of themselves, including Clark, but not really including VSnares imo. He has made some good stuff but I think watmm isn't the place for him.

Wow . . . it must be the apocalypse if JR is opening the possibility up for a Snares sub-forum. :snares:

Clark is awesome, and he makes really excellent music - some of it is derivative, or merely influenced, but he's continued to mature and find his own voice.

Snares is, frankly, the only one who sounds like Snares. People might not like it, but come on - in terms of electronic artists he stands on his own - he puts out assloads of music, some of which I don't particularly like, some of which I like, a few tracks on each album I absolutely LOVE.

I firmly believe that whatever your taste in electronic music, you could take his entire catalogue, boil it down to three albums (like someone said above), and have three completely solid albums worth of material (regardless of whether you like moody strings, gabber, drill, 16 bit, whatev).

. . . .And, as I've said before, I doubt he makes as much as some of the "superstars" of electro on each album, which might be why he has to release 25 albums a year. Give the man an (amen)break. .

If you rounded up all of the great tracks by VSnares, you'd have like 3 really good albums.

I think that's a fair assessment.

Argh, stupid American! "I could care less" doesn't even make sense. It should be "I couldn't care less".

That's my choice anyways. It would keep the juggalos of IDM in one place at least.

I picture Watmmers saying this about Cylob when that subforum was about to be created. Result : the most inactive subforum on watmm. At this pace, we will have a subforum for each idm artist.

Slippery slope bro - everyone's got an opinion on who should be there, and once you start making subforums for one it's hard to argue that you shouldn't make 'em for all. . . I actually think there being a poll on this is a good idea. Frankly, I miss the days when there was one big ass forum where all this shit was discussed, but we're too far from that now to go back.

Though, really, does it hurt anyone to have a subforum for all these artists? I mean, now that music discussion is separate from General banter, don't see how there's a huge difference between 3 artsist subforums and 13.

Snares is a million times more entertaining in every way than Cylob....

I enjoy some Cylob but never thought a subforum was necessary....

Cylobotnia is my favourite release of his and I think it is more Aleksi Perala than Cylob, could be wrong on that...

Does he do anything beyond crossfading two cd's in his livesets these days?

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Just wondering.

As far as I know, he does slight manipulations, but unless you really know his tracks you won't catch them since Vsnares is always really busy sounding. In the video posted about, there were some effects, but it's not like I can point them out and describe them, I can just tell that they're there from knowing the song.
