I finally got the vinyl and listened to it the whole way through for the first time. Holy shit, awesome!

This album is definitely surviving the test of time for me. Absolutely love it. The transitions between each track are all simply jaw-dropping. stunning stuff.

Sorry for the bump.. but:

Top reasons why this album is a flawed masterpiece as a vinyl record

1. In the Fog is split between sides A and B

2. Hatred of Music is split between SIDES B AND C. It takes a full record exchange to hear this piece

What gives Kranky?! Other than that, this release is still fresher than fresh

IN THE FOG AND HATRED OF MUSIC SEPARATED IN 2 SIDES EACH? NO WAYYYYYY!!!

Finn truly captures the way I feel when Hatred of Music STOPS. Because the tracks are so continuous, they didn't even break it at a reasonable point, its an arbitrary and sudden stop right in the middle of a wall of sound.

Yeah definitely, spun it the other day and noticed that. Will stick to the digital copy...

I suppose he wrote the album for cd/digital, without considering the limited time on each side of a record, rather than writing it knowing it would be pressed to vinyl (a la Stars of the Lid) where each 'suite' finishes at the end of each side.

Thanks for the heads up, I have been playing with the idea of the vinyl edition but it's very expensive.

And me. Nearly copped it last month but I'm kinda glad I didn't now. Splitting parts like that is a silly move.

Stars of the Lid is beautiful in vinyl.

Words of truth.

I'm shamelessly derailing the thread a little bit to say that Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid and Refinement of the Decline REALLY, REALLY need to get repressed.
