Pornography and Morality

more resources should be devoted to understanding the causes of pedophilia and how to prevent/subdue it rather than banning drawings on the internet.

If they want to stop pedophilia they should ban Church.

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.

It's not just pubs, it's anywhere that sells alcohol or cigs. As a 19 year old who currently owns no ID, but is clearly over 18, this annoys me to no end.

Within the following spoiler contains child porn. If you're easily offended I suggest you don't open it.

well, getting rid of institutions full of "celibate" males ridden with christian guilt is a good start, i guess. we really should just figure out the roots of pedophilia though. think about it. a world with no pedophiles or at least with pedophiles that have no sexual drive so they have no inclination for molestation. that would be lovely, wouldn't it? then parents wouldn't get arrested for taking pictures of their kids in the bath, imagine that!

have there been studies done in countries like Japan where simulated child porn is highly popular comparing it to actual cases of sexual abuses against children. I'd be curious if there is any hard data on the impact of japan's fascination with underage girls being raped in comic books

The research materials and methods would be so repugnant that few scientists would want to take the subject on and if they did, you would have to question the real motive of the researchers.

see this is the heart of the problem. how are we supposed to progress with this attitude? the motive should always be knowledge, anyway, which shouldn't need any justification.

dragon's idea that watching kiddie porn somehow subdues the drive to commit these acts is the opposite of what really happens. the more exposure you have to an fetish, the more it dominates one's thought process, and that generally culminates to a real-life manifestation of the fetish/fantasy.

That's not "my idea", it's just something I read on Wikipedia. I wanted to give both sides of the argument. You stated that you're on the side that views that looking at CP leads to real-life abuse, so I guess that's a positive contribution to the discussion. I'm not sure what to believe, that's why I started this thread.

Edit: I heard some guy in Australia was convicted for having simpsons porn or summit.

I once had a fascinating couple of conversations with a prison pastor who was also a psychiatrist who told me that there were two definite types of nonce. The first and the most brutal were the same people who were turned on by the most sickening types of sexual abuse/rape of children and also graphic imagery, including comic books/hentai,that depicted the sexual abuse/rape of children. The second type were the nonces who would sexualise imagery of children themselves-being turned on by images of children clothed for example, pictures of children playing, catalogue pictures of kids...the list is endless and shocking. This second catergory of nonce would be more likely to object against being accused of any wrong doing, imagining that children wanted these 'relationships' that they see as being pure and loving and not deviant in anyway.

Not sure this is relevant but I just thought Id throw it into the arena anyway.

I both do have a beard and don't get IDed if it isn't mandatory to ID everybody, but most places must ID nearly everybody. (entry to clubs, big chains, etc)

Oh ye, going into clubs I always get IDed, unless its a club I go to regularly. I just assumed it was a way for them to determine if I was too drunk to get in.

I can always play it sober though

a really interesting documentary i saw recently was Louis Theroux's A Place for Pedophiles from BBC.

can i post links to online streaming sites? you can easily find it online anyway.

Louis as always leads very revealing interviews and gets intimate with how the inmates got there.

not all of them are as horrible as you'd imagine. but then there's the other few that for obvious reasons

shouldn't be near humans much less children..
