Watches seem a bit hipsterish thing nowadays as we all already have them on cellphones and computers.

I might understand it as a retro good feeling or if you got used to wearing watches and can't get over it...

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.

I think gaarg has just pushed the hipster argument too far... It's over.

Thing is, do you really need to have a watch? Does it make it that easier to check on time? I don't use watches in around 10 years, because I simply see no use in them, also it used to bug me having something around my wrist all the time.

I'm pretty pragmatical here, so I'm not gonna call everybody that uses a watch a hipster. Only those that do it for the nonsense of it.

Yes - If I want to know the time from my watch I just look down at my arm, if I want to know the time from my phone I've got to get it from my pocket and turn it off standby. It's only a small thing but it is more convenient.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

yes it does make it easier to tell the time (and yes, even with my binary watch). firstly, i use my phone for mobile internet access and want to squeeze as much juice out of the battery as possible - constantly turning on the screen just to check the time isn't really helping keep my phone power economic. secondly, i have to fuck around getting my phone out of my pocket. considering that it's now winter, i don't want to have to take my gloves off, fumble around with my coat to move it out of the way of my pants pocket to delve into there and grab my phone, switch it on and then do the whole thing in reverse, when i could just pull my coat sleeve up and oh look, it's 13:08.

There's another thing...

I might be a bit autistic but generally if I check the time once I'll be able to tell for the next two or three hours what time it is. Having extra watches seems that less usable lol

some of us maybe don't have such a great grasp on time? especially with my state of mind not really being 100%, it can be difficult to ascertain the passage of time.

im surprised no one here rocks a pocket watch. that was a good look way back when.

I bought a pocket watch when I was 14/15 or so. Never wore it in public, but it's a nice thing to own.

I'm actually planning to dress as Daniel Plainview for a New Year's party, so I'll have to remember to bring it into my ensemble.

I went through a couple back in junior high/high school.

When I was in elementary I wore my watch on my right wrist even though I was right-handed.

Now I just have a phone.
