for the strange polar opposite world of Fox news new found civil liberties -

edit: it's really surreal that on Fox news business, they've been taking the position that Julian Assange should have the freedoms to do this, but on the so-called liberal MSNBC Rachel Maddow and Kieth Olbermann remain practically silent in the matter

Edited by Awepittance

that's awesome

i think it might have been Jake Appelbaum or possibly Assange who said that part of the purpose of Wikileaks was to force the hidden secretive power structures in the world to come out of hiding and make public moves to try and stop him. It seems like this is happening but at the same time we're also seeing a bunch of anonymous hacker groups showing off their swagger too, much more intensely than i've ever seen before. pretty exciting stuff!

wow fox news defending assange is weird.

if you want to take some more doses of weird pills try watching an entire Judge Napolitano show, it is more 'liberal' than anything on MSNBC by a long shot

If anything serious happens to him, he'll release the password to the extremely damaging stuff...

Dude's blackmailing the world...

i doubt it would be seriously damaging, or else wikileaks would have released it already. from what i've heard, the diplomatic cables are a portion of what is on the insurance file, so we could probably expect more things like that.

I think it's very possible Wikileaks is holding some things... This is a very sensitive situation... What makes you the expert? :orly:

i'm not an expert, obviously. but think about it: if wikileaks is holding back very important information for the sake of blackmail, they're being hypocrites. i'd like to think the insurance file would be the cables and other documents but maybe without names removed, you know? or maybe evidence of the governments of the world trying to fuck over wikileaks through espionage. i sincerely doubt it's something like a video of george bush sucking osama's cock (in other words, something groundbreaking and related to world politics).

i know... i posted that earlier in the thread. lol.

another consideration: perhaps the information is something that is too dangerous for them to publish now. what i mean is, if you have evidence of something like russia and china plotting the united state's destruction... well, putting it out there would be like dropping an atom bomb, yeah.

This is what I'm hearing from so called "insiders"

Wikileaks could have information that could endanger millions as the result of a nation/nations downfall... It wouldn't be hypocritical to keep this sort of information and use it to secure the life of Wikileaks, which in their eyes are doing a lot of good by doing what they do... It could actually be very moral... As I said this is a very very sensitive situation...

To me it's almost a given they have more seriously damaging information than they've released

Also... Really dumb idea to merge the two threads...

i could see anon having difficulty taking down facebook, tbh. their network infrastructure is designed for constant high-stress activity like nobody else's except google and maybe microsoft.

Here's Assange's lawer saying point blank they're using undisclosed information as a weapon...

And they can't say in public it's more damaging then the files they've already released... That would cause too much controversy... But the governments he's/they're using it against definitely do.

By the way Wikileaks is more than just one guy... Stop acting like Assange's personal shit has anything to do with the policies or philosophy of Wikileaks as a whole...

Update(sorry)

I find this to be the most fascinating series of events, since... I'm not even sure. I do feel like we are witnessing something huge here.

A lot of people seem to be very indifferent and/or uninformed regarding all this though, and it baffles me.

oh yeah, and that Fox news coverage supporting Assange, blew my mind. What is happening here? And it sounded like Glenn Beck is on his side too?

ohhh shit, anon just tweeted a large list of valid mastercard CC nos and expiration dates

and the pastebin file containing the CCs is gone too.

that was a low enough blow in fairness, but this is the asshole of the internet we're talking about.
