diggin' on tea

I love a good cup of Rosy Lee, it's great. I enjoy Twinings breakfast blend in the day, and calming down with an Earl Gray in the evenings. I was planning on joining this:

I cannot stand full or semi skimmed milk it has to be fully skimmed or I'd rather go without. Green tea is nice but I personally only like 1 strength rather then 2 or 3 as they can have a 'fishy' aroma and taste, it also works well with jasmin.

i never understood using a teakettle when you have a microwave. maybe it's an english thing?

we have an "electric" kettle, you plug it in, push a button, and it boils the water. but even that's too slow for my impatient ass... no, the microwave is fast and precise. exactly the temperature i want. i'm feeling 1:52 on high today, yes sir

That's so barbaric, when water isn't properly boiled it creates a slight foamy, bubbly surface. I always make sure that I use fresh water, that has reacted a good rolling boil this allows for more oxygen, this is key for a good taste, I then let it settle for a few seconds and proceed to brew. Brew for around 40 seconds depending on what strength and or what tea I am having.

I like mixing my teas chamomile works well with many others.

At the cost of poor tasting tea! It doesn't take much longer either.

I have a theory that putting in the milk before the tea back has brewed inhibits flavour as the lactose binds to the tea leaves, but that's just a thought.

who the fuck makes tea in a microwave jesus christ

besides anything else it can superheat the water and when you add teabags it'll boil over in a somewhat dangerous way

Got into Tea myself once I went to this store I thought was gay and nasty called Teavana. Don't remember how I wound up going in there but I tried one of their sample teas and WOW I was amazed. Since then I bought a bad ass expensive tea kettle and several type of teas from them. I quit sodas a couple months back and this made the move so much easier. I even managed to hook my family and a few friend into the Tea Scene , cause here in America tea isn't really that big of a deal.

This is the most bizarrely extreme negative prejudice against/positive reaction to Teavana ever, Teavana being exceedingly innocuous.

I 100% agree with this. The milk definitely "puts a stop" to the brewing and you end up with much less flavor.

Also, I like to pour my milk into a little cream pitcher to sit while I'm making the tea to get it to room temp before pouring it in. Don't want it too cool the tea down too fast.

Flavors are fun to experiment with but the go-to teas are PG Tips with milk n sugar or Earl Grey straight up. It's hard to beat the scent of Earl Grey leaves in the tin.

yes. boiling tea in a microwave is IDM IMO. I will suggest it for the next most idm thing. I use an electrical kettle though. it's just more convenient and it's just as fast.

Or you can boil it on a woodfire on the edge of the Moroccan desert, with a couple oranges/cinnamon.*put sunglasses on*
