people a;ways get into the self oscillating madness of this synth. The high pitched sounds, but I think it shines in the big farty bass territory. The oscillators are really old school and fat sounding like test generators

Has anyone given that XILS Lab's XILS-3 a go?

arturia should do a faithful VCS3 VST... the amount of fetishisation this synth gets, they'd clean up.

It's a great synth but it sounds horrible in that video.

Yes. It's good. But it's not in my go to list, seemed a bit tempermental, although my set up was due a good clean up at the time, so I wouldn't read anything much into it. Might go back to it

I like the sound of the oscillators of the synthi. Most demos are sqeeeling with high pitched sounds. Im not into that. Thats what I like about this demo. It has nice thick throbbing fartyness.

Ah, i've played with that exact VCS3 in the video of the first post. I have to admit, since it didn't have the/a keyboard for it, it was just a noise box and it got rather boring after half an hour playing on it, but that's in my opinion. I mean, you CAN make actual music with this synth..

And don't worry, the woofers were fine, until i touched their arp2500.

Im sure we are hearing the synth + speaker +air movement + microphone + mic preamp + computer soundcard..Not just the vcs3. Some people mic the internal speakers on the arp 2600 for instance

Im not which i like more the 2600 or the ems synthi

There are vids by tonetweakers of a 2600 that are absolutely amazing. The mixer in that particular 2600 overdrives so nicely. Other 2600 vids i see are meh. So it is highly dependent on a each individual synth and the components inside and how they have aged or whatever. It really varies from synth to synth

i had a chance to play with my friend hataken's ems synthis aks recently. three hours of pure bliss! the sound of the 70's! i don't really see how any digital emulation could come ever close to that experience. the thing has built in speakers and spring reverb!

The reason the other arp2600 videos are meh is because the people using them are shite at using them, it's not the synth's fault :P
