A little girl who’d trained for how many years to be an assassin?

The other one killing the giant, yes a little much, but did it really detract from the overall story/show? If the answer is yes, maybe you’re just too sophisticated to watch GoT...

What sophistication? There was some witty dialogue here and there, basic political intrigue, and incest. It’s not fucking Foucault

Killing ain’t sophisticated. So why should the night king’s death be sophisticated?

That one episode was almost feature length and cost millions to make, it was great fun, sod off.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

It was fun yeah, but the bit with the girl and the chill guy was incredibly underwhelming and you have to bee a fool to not admit it to yourself.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

well, production value certainly isn't the problem with this episode. actually i feel the widely critized design choices like the lighting and shakey cam, clichéd as they might have become, really fit the mood and scenario in this case, aptly conveying disorientation and dread.

dat writing tho.

the sheer discrepancy between build-up and resolution of this particular story ark is already stuff of legends.

the melisandre azor ahai mumbo jumbo, all of bran's and most of jon's adventures (at least he's still relevant due to the throne claim, which was only established recently tho), what did they really amount to in the grand scheme of things? even if you accept that this wasn't supposed to be the "main" plot line after all, despite the fact that it was the one consistently recurrent throughout the whole show and which finally connected all the others... (which btw i do without a hitch, the only thing that made the zombie stuff interesting to me was how it would eventually affect the actual "game of thrones"... turns out besides somewhat evening out forces between cercei and daenerys was hardly at all, well, k).

well, maybe they were actually going for the ultimate expectation-subverting disappointment all along. if so that was some elaborate joke alright! i mean this threat encompassed the whole show, lingering in the distance, from the very first scene of the very first episode, culminating in the most massive coitus interruptus, with the self-indulgent-ghey-fest-fan-dick-rubbing of s8e1/2 as the final big tease. maybe we just got trolled by Daniweiss and maybe we deserved it.

or maybe it was all a ploy by GRR to make us buy the books for the "real" ending.

or maybe this victory is all just a vision of bran still warging through time and space.

...

or maybe it was just some really, really lazy, uninspired bullshit.

whatever, next!

(also lol at the "feminism is ruining everything" folks who found another easy prey, jeesh)

It really wouldn't surprise me if GRRM had been sitting on Winds of Winter all this time, waiting for the show to finish. I'd imagine him to announce its release a month or two after for Xmas.

AFAIK the Night King isn't in the book, so that part of the story shouldn't be a worry. Hopefully a more satisfying conclusion, especially for Jon and Bran's stories will be in there too, for those who actually recognised and appreciated the finer nuances of the show.

Totally this. He will not spoil the show before the ending and will sell additional books if his ending is different

Last night's episode was the best of the season thus far. The last 2/3rds had some really good acting

i reckon the starbucks cup wasn't a mistake.  it actually is all a dream, now nearing its end.  little pieces of the real world are slipping into the dream.  next episode look out for a ford sierra parked out the front of kings landing.

The writing getting even dumber. No way the fleet would have been able to sneak up on the dragons like that, and still be able to hit them with the scorpion. Also, she could have just flown behind them and wiped them out no problem, the scorpions would have been all facing the wrong way (even if they could rotate 360 degrees, they'd have to shoot through the sails), or could've just gone above them as they couldn't fire vertically either. If you want to wipe out a dragon, fine, just come up with something that makes sense you lazy hacks. Also, if the scorpions were that powerful they could've easily hit the guys outside kings landing. Missandei could've easily grabbed onto Cersei and jumped off the ledge too, would've been a great wtf way to kill her off. Jamie allowing Brienne out of the friend-zone was completely unbelievable as well, looks like they're just making shit up for the sake of it at this point. I'm still enjoying it, it's just a shame as it doesn't need to be this dumb.

I wholeheartedly concur. My cautious optimism about leaving the undead behind potentially making room for more old school got feeling was not disappointed.

maybe the final encounter will actually be Targaryen vs. Targaryen

Yeah, again the episode had its fair share of implausible silliness (the ambush and Cercei not killing Tyrion when she had him on a platter (i can buy the same for D + accompaniment tho as i can see Cercei actually wanting the open escalation to solidify her status)... also the "aw"-moment between J and B tho i enjoyed the bitterness when it was over (welcome back, unclean-cut J)) and dialogue overall is still far from on par with the got of olde but whatevs.

I'll take it. As far as i'm concerned we're back on track for the time being.

its a metaphor for her cockiness and lowering in defenses, her head was literally in the clouds when they were ambushed

yeah even that was a bit frustrating to watch

either way it's her slipping into madness - paranoia, lack of caution and foresight, etc. it's fun watching her get pissed again and seeing these unexpected turns of misfortune, just sucks it's being crammed into such a short time now

yeah I'm sincerely unsure who will kill who

daenerys is going to die, just not sure if it will be jon, who often waits via caution or loyalty until someone else does it but sometimes makes a hard decision when it's right (he really has been a well-written, plausible strong leader in that sense)

And suddenly Varis - or whats his name... the bald eunuch - has the utmost best for all the people of Westeros in mind. No self-interest whatsoever.

Funny how these motives can fall out of the sky. Or should I say, conveniently.

There's plenty more. But why bother.

How about a eunuch on the throne? No possible offspring. Maybe thats the GOT edition of a democracy. Royalty without the option to put their offspring on the throne. You have to fight for it. Hunger games style.

I'm guessing our capitalist overlords would like the idea. Combine two successful franchises into one. With potential for an endless stream of new seasons.
