I don't really remember Archetype or Transgression, but I do remember being surprised by how good the songs were on one of those albums, maybe Archetype, as Transgression seemed to be a bit of a rushed album.

When Dino returned for Mechanize I had to have a listen; it's a great album imo, especially with Gene Hoglan on drums. Also a fkn guitar solo!

The Industrialist was alright, but again, I don't really remember any songs from it.

Genexus, to me, feels like a return to Obsolete-level blend of melody and heaviness; lots of great FF hooks, which is basically why I love them:

Then again, you probably can't trust my opinion because I'm a lame weirdo who often loves albums that other people hate (cf. 90s Metallica) :P

yeah vocals are a bit too generic grind shrieks. But after listening to a lot of barrage-of-noise grind lately I'm really enjoying those vocals coupled with the more thrash-y music

If a band like Ghost is considered metal, I don't know how Deafheaven isn't. Kind of like how a lot of people think that grime isn't just a subgenre of hiphop, for some reason. Fuckin' genres, man.
