Deaf Center - Owl Splinters

Just bought the 12''/cd pack based entirely on the sample of Time Spent. Even though it's only 2 minutes long, that track is easily worth the £15 worth of emotion I'm gonna get from it.

i love the idea of getting a 45-min Svarte Greiner album with the LP, but no deck (and thus the likelihood of purchasing the album twice makes me cautious.

The album is reworkings of tracks off the DC album:

"Actually the SG bonus disc is reinterpretations of tracks on Owl splinters, just used and mixed in a different way. The idea was basicly to remake parts of the album into a additional disc, as a companion pieces. Some of the tracks on the main album has so much detailed recordings that they deserved to get more focus by themselves as well. It´s quite a bleak and intense addition though, so maybe not for everyone : )"

continuing directly from where 'pale raven' left off. incredible continuity and attention to detail.

This album was totally worth the long wait. The 2 longest tracks are sublime, it's like they merged Type Records' older classical sound with the drone music that the label has been releasing lately.

Very nice and atmospheric. Sounds like a mix of the first DC and Svarte Greiner album imo

what's the bonus cd like? anybody heard? i have an email in to forced exposure to see if they will be stocking this, but i'm still wary based on the (potential) price. we'll see. samples of the album sound incredible. thanks to all for the tip on this (and deaf center stuff generally)!

Well it was gonna be a tall order to top pale Ravine, that record is easily one of my top 5 albums of the 00's. The more I listen to this new one though, the more I love it. Especially 'The Day I Would Never Have' & 'Hunted Twice'. I look forward to hearing the bonus disc.

This is good. IMO it's not as memorable as Pale Ravine. I prefer Svarte Greiner's shit on his own. Knive was creepy ass shit.

The bonus CD is pretty much a single 45-minute drone track, none the worse for it though. There's some amazing textures in there, especially around the middle section, but also some fairly terrifying feedback in places - it reminds me a lot of Svarte Greiner's Kappe.
