Oh God I hope I don't get banned for this

I love FL. I started using it on version 3 or 2.3 i think. It's definitely grown a lot. I used it for years before switching to logic, but I like to go back to FL sometimes, it's more fun to use and really not that limited.

I've always used Fruity since version 3.0 i think. I've only mildly jumped to Ableton a couple of years ago because of the easy on the fly record capabilities that i kind of miss in FStudio. But still, at times i jump back to Fruity because Ableton's GUI just annoys me.

this is pretty much where i'm at. i downloaded version 2 from a really dodgy russian warez site back in the days of dialup and ended up buying it when version 3 came out. i mostly use ableton but when i just feel like screwing around i'll use flstudio because it's just so ingrained into my brain from years upon years of using it.

also i mean i paid $150 eight years ago and i still get the latest updates for free. what's not to like about that? the only thing i don't get is their 'premium' built in synths but those really kind of blow either way, so whatever.

The long answer:

it's not free at all. never has been! you get free updates to it, so you pay one time for it then receive every update to it they ever release in the future, which i think is pretty fucking nice of them! they could repackage it and resell it every few years if they wanted to! but instead you get an update every year or so. i've been using it on and off since 1999/2000, and it's come a long, LONG way since then! it's not my main sequencer/DAW of choice now, but it's still bloody good for the price, considering what you can do with it now! and a great thing for people to start out on, imo, as it's fairly quick and easy to build tracks. i don't think it deserve all the hate anymore. but they really should think about changing its name! i think that's half the problem, it's got a shit name.
