Yes, the same Tony Banks who's in Genesis and who my mum used to fancy. Is it just confirmation bias or are there Genesissy leitmotifs in there?

stumbled across a really good interpreter/performer of Debussey, Francois-Joel Theollier, album is called Debussey: Claire de lune and Other Piano Favorites on streaming. The hall reverb on the recording is very tasty, and I think it the performances were recorded to magnetic tape, has a nice tape noise throughout. Best recording of Claire de lune I've ever heard:

Also if you need more music like this to scratch that itch, check out Henrique Oswald, he's right on the money

slight deviation from the norm:

Gotta share this Glenn Gould monologue about Bach - skip to 2:10

Nice, I like Gould a lot, especially his recordings of Bach’s Art of Fugue. He also has an album playing 10 intermezzi by Brahms, really good and chill classical vibes on that one.

Really nice sound indeed.

Walter Gieseking's rendition of Debussy is also very nice imo, the one from Warner Classics

Incidentally been checking out some Brahms lately including Intermezzi which are great and make me feel the same as Beethoven bagatelles (ie happy) — played Brahms 3 in my high school orchestra but wasn’t huge on him other than the famous 3rd movement. Gonna have to peep the Gould recordings - wonder if anyone used AI to remove his humming from recordings yet??

He put this bagatelle to paper after the 9th - baroque simplicity in the first section contrasts well against the lullaby second section

that bagatelle sounds great. Regarding Gould's humming, I remember first getting into his recordings and reading about people complaining. It definitely is a little annoying sometimes but I don't mind it all that much. He seems to have been a somewhat controversial figure in other ways. I am not well versed enough in classical to know how true this is, but I heard that on some of his recordings he altered the tempo on some famous pieces, slowed them down rather dramatically based on his own interpretations of the compositions.
