Salvatorin
I pretty much love this album....probably my favorite track is P.:Ntil....has anyone ever noticed the whole thing sounds like someone breathing? Whenever I listen to it i feel out of breath, because those breaths in the track are so short and forced......AE is so fuckin cool. Blir
61e.CR and Vl Al 5 are my faves from the album and some of Ae's best work. It's their best album overall and best artwork and it gives me boners every time. God damn. Guest Rook
Yea 61e.cr too lol. That transition around 3:00 or so is one of Ae's best moments. That modular synth is the buisness. Great freaking album. I listened to this early Sunday morning last sunday really loud on the Bose system in the Audi. 'Twas the buisness. Surripere freaking blew my socks off. It was really cool too since it was around 7:00 or so and it was still kind of dark, very gray, and rainy. Worked really well with the piece. And I almost crashed dancing to teh funk of 61e.CR lol. I generally consider Draft to be Autechre's fourth best album. But only because I consider Confield and Lp5 to be 10/10, and Chiastic Slide to be 9.999/ten. While Draft gets 9.99/ten. Guest Ultravisitor
Gooble Gobble said: After listening to Autechre for the last 13+ years I must say I have nothing bad to say about any of their material. Draft is no exception. I LOVE IT!!! the sonic landscape hearkens back to Amber in a way while still being completely new. Favorites (besides the whole cd) are 61e.cr with it's slow Q-bert-esque robotic funk. Tapr with it's ever recurring hurry up to get back to the start percussion loop. Surripere's tempo shifts after a nice ebb and flow beginning. Theme Of Sudden Roundabout reminds me of something hideous and fascinating moving through space and time we cannot comprehend or see ( think H.P. Lovecraft's stories come to life in the form of music ). Vl Al 5 is like a mental vacation where you have no cares, just put your mind in neutral and coast. V-Proc is tied for favorite on this release, It builds and builds up to 1:27 in the song and then it justs explodes in all directions. Kind of like a car turning over and over without starting until the engine catches and takes your ears for a spin through a changing aural scenery. Simple straight forward composition for Ae on this track but I feel it works quite well. Reniform Puls might take the winners crown on this release. The chill beginning that works itself up into a frenzy by less than halfway into the song. The constant onslaught of perfectly timed beats is always one step ahead of your ears, as soon as you "catch" it, it flees ahead of you only to tempt you on further and further. As with alot of Ae's work it is very hard to be "in the moment" while listening, true appreciation and smiles come after the song is over making you hit the repeat button to try to catch that fleeting snippet of clarity that is so elusive. Long live Sean and Rob. this guy's hardcore well done mate. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/6396-draft-730/page/3/#findComment-622533 Share on other sites

Salvatorin
This album just grows on me more and more. I agree with what people have said about this album being brothers with Confield. The whole arrangement of tracks somehow mirrors Confield. What is strange is that LP5 has been getting less and less enjoyable for me. I think it sounds too much like plastic somehow and it lacks soul compared to Confield and Draft 7.30. I don't know how that works out because all the reviewers say that these two albums are their most difficult work...but LP5 is so mechanical and somehow harder to listen to than these albums for me. NOW WHERE DOES QUARISTICE FIT INTO ALL THIS? Terpentintollwut
I still think I'm not yet getting LP5 - reading over different topics, I've pretty much always agreed with Rook on autechre-tracks and -albums. Now he puts it on the same level with Confield and I think that's gotta say something about it... mh. Salvatorin
I put in LP5 today...and well...after a couple tracks I just turned it off. I really didn't enjoy it enough to keep listening. Its crazy because something as weird as "Fol3" can hold my attention. What I think makes LP5 do this, and its the same with some of the tracks on Cichlisuite: its that crazy synth they used around that time that seems to make inifinitely different "squealing" sounds....I don't know the technicalities, maybe someone around here does, but they use it in tracks like Pencha, Characi, Acroyear2 is almost completely based on it, Vose in...they seemed to stop using it after LP5 funny enough. You look at Confield and it has none of that in it. EP7 doesn't either. Cichlisuite and LP5 were so based on those bright squealing synths that it left no area for the darkness of every following album. And the darkness is probably the reason I love those albums so much  Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Salvatorin's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/6396-draft-730/page/3/#findComment-756067 Share on other sites

LP5 is great but I don't listen to it that much. The whole album flows less perfectly than Confield and later does for me. Acroyear2 was definetely is 'getting into ae track' for me though! I personally love it but I can see where it would get on one's nerves. LP5 is one of my favorites, up there with Chiastic and Confield. They are artful masterpieces. It is just that it strains me somehow to listen to it. I'm easier off with the bassy rumbles of Parhelic Triangle than the ear-piercing sounds in Characi. And "glossy plastic" is exactly what it sounds. It sounds like laminated colorful blobs and it tires me aurally. I like the gritty organic textures of confield, or the rusty mechanic sounds of Chiastic....draft's textures are too complicated to describe in words.
