new zealand earthquake

Recommended Posts

I'm in Chch but Northwest of the city centre so it felt as bad as the 7.1 one for me. My partner was in the central city so was a bit freaked out for a while but she left the car there due to traffic and walked ~10kms home.

If ieafs works at a public library the central library in town is ok, most of the others should be ok too, all council websites are down though. About 50% of the city has no power and won't for a while, pretty much just the west side is ok for power. Hope he's well.

That's actually quite reassuring. Fingers crossed!

Quite likely his place is in a bit of disorder/ without power then I'd guess. Would have got a good shake.

falling tv killed somebody's baby :( shit is real

the regional tv station (7 storey building) is flat and they've just called off the search for survivors. girl at work knows people who work there and she hasnt heard from all of them yet

earthquake is crazy business but. glad to hear most peeps are doing ok.

Glad to hear the NZ WATMMers are OK also. Important to remember the tragedy of all this though. Makes me feel ashamed for whining about the trivial day-to-day shit that bugs me sometimes.

yeah this sucks! much love for all the new zealanders and their friends and families. hope for the best!

yes, facebooking..

uh'oh

half of the new zealand corner of facebook is people offering to billet folks who want to gtfo of Christchurch for a bit

not seeing too many offers being taken up yet so it seems like maybe not much internet going on down there yet

i've got a single room available in htown btw - will tolerate boc fans for up to two weeks in the name of wattum solidarity :whistling:
