geologist!

Currently sitting in a tin shack on the property of a mine near Pickle Lake, extreme north of Ontario. Probably shouldn't reveal the actual mine site or what we're looking for... These rocks are damn fascinating though, and pretty damn old. My job's mainly just to look at rocks brought up by big drills, but I also have to play with geochemistry results, go out into the field to locate hole sites, sometimes plan holes too. Just been riding a skidoo about spotting some holes by GPS and cutting little trees down to use as markers.

Places I work are generally quite pretty, e.g.:

Ahh, gotcha. I love the internet.

Anyway, to stay back on topic, I work at a Texas state library. Most of the year I digitize old documents, during the legislative session I'm on the senate floor updating actions of bills for the state's online database.

chemical engineer. help make soaps and shampoos and stuff.

Is it worth it?

yes, the pay is pretty good and i find it fun to see what goes into making these things that i can go the store and buy and use in my home. the company is unilever, and they are so huge that chances are no matter where you are in the world, you probably have some unilever product in your home (not sure about africa or australia though).

edit: plus getting a shit ton of soap / shampoo / deoderant / tea / lotion for 1/3 the cost at the company store is great

motion graphic designer—freelancing around NYC up until last month, when my extended freelancing gig at an admittedly boring-and-uncreative-as-all-fuck corporation offered me a nice full-time job. still boring and uncreative as fuck, but i'll have some more time to work on my own design work and music.

Parts supervisr for Renault. Part time programming. To become full time in a couple years I guess. I'm a take down Microsoft.

i like the logo too, it is everywhere around here of course. huge logos over all the walls. also, there are tons of these around, the dove campaign for real beauty, but in giant posters!

plus, yesterday there was a free-for-all on free products from trials they had left over. snatched probably $50 - $60 worth of body wash and lotion for free!
