iPad2 Garageband

So I was looking at the new ipad2 and found this:

Now I have to admit I lol'd immediately but after I saw a fully functioning daw with MIDI and import/export capabilities I decided this is definitely a step in the right direction.

That being said I am very much looking forward to youtube videos of people acting like idiots strumming their ipads like air guitars in chewbacca outfits.

What do you guys think this means for IDM and Gabber specifically?

I've used garageband plenty of times, it's alright. It's done alright for recording real instruments. Never used the virtual instruments and actually didn't know it had that. Must be for the ipad only because I've only used it on a laptop. The virtual instruments seem pointless when there's better stuff out there for making electronic music.

i'm sure it'll be alright. it's there more so they can say they have it, kind of like how adobe forces you to buy a shitty WAV editor as part of the "adobe creative suite." FEATURES GARAGE BAND SOFTWARE so you can make music at home

alt-rock, dubstep, and hiphop combine to create the genre "terrible"

on second thought, it might wind up being a good tape recorder.

just sing off a song idea to yourself into garage band -- it multitracks, yes? ipad has a mic, yes? and take it home to real gear later.

in other words, a portastudio 4-track sorta level. for demos+sketchpad, not for releases...

well, I think it's really just a sign that apple have seen a large proportion of iPad users are musicians, and so they wanted something showy to impress people into buying IPad 2.

this is exactly what i would want out of this technology. i get some of my best ideas when in no position to record them

pretty freaking cool, this is just one step away from a Logic Studio light ipad app.

I want a full on midi sequencer ableton style for external gear.

ipad + nord modular g2 engine, and I'm set.
