I agree about keeping with the money shot and having your chorus upfront. Isn't that what DJ'ing is all about too, digging through the crates for that rare groove, or wicked lick. Also, it helps with the rocky hits if you have an interesting tone in your singing voice. And they might be basic chords, but so many different attitudes can't be brought to it, many bands don't have that it.
