If you got it the first time, why go back again. Maybe years later when details have become nothing more than the sketchy outlines of distant clouds that lie somewhere beyond the horizon. Other than that, i've never gotten anything from repeatedly viewing films, so don't.

This can also apply to going to the park, a swimming pool, your porch and other travel destinations. More time to stay inside and watch films once!

The Grand Illusion and The Life and Death of Col. Blimp about 30 times each. The Archers can go a long way. Black Narcissus many many times.

No it can't, because everytime you go somewhere it is different. The film is on an exact playback. Then again I do note that many people don't notice details on the first run through that i already haven't missed. Also i was never one of those kids that would re-read favourate books, and couldn't re-watch films because we didn't even have a video player. Nevertheless I can understand why you would want to do it from the, missing things angle, up to the familiar armchair you want to rest your brain in reason. Don't fret, we is just differnent ;-]

In the case of the swimming pool, I think you will find an experience many levels above anything that a film, even on the first run through could deliver.

Not to mention in the case of the swimming pool, I think you will find an experience many levels above anything that a film, even on the first run through could deliver.

You can be different with every visit. The Grand Canyon is going to be quite the same for instance. The weather can change. One can watch a film without the same attitude thoughts or perceptions. They can be analyzed on multiple levels. Someone mentioned Barry Lyndon, which can be easily enjoyed time after time as if a painting. I suppose one can look at a painting once and be over it. If not why do not?

So yeah. Swimming pools are the fucking shit!

The same reason why i wouldn't get a tat, i would be bored of the same image. I think if i did have lots of art up in my house, it would be there for reason of both storage of something valuable, and as an expression of my personality to anyone coming for a visit. And yes, i am aware of how shallow that sounds. hehe ;-]

i guess i watched the man who fell to earth like 4 times in the last month that's gotta count for something.

If you enjoyed Rip Torn in that film, I highly recommend Norman Mailer's "Maidstone", in which Torn is clearly tripping in a mildly pornographic scene, and gets into a real fistfight with Mailer at the end, scaring his children.

I don't generally rewatch things because I already know what happens

yeah sometimes you find new things but only sometimes

I rewatched Inception recently and didn't discover anything so it was kinda boring and basically spoiled it

I really liked The Fighter but I feel no need or desire to reawatch

Movies You Say You Have Watched Again And Again And Again to look cool and interesting

or.. to get others ideas of what might be good to watch again and again and again? listing multiple watchings is

a quick way to discover folks favorite movies and that's very cool. :sup:

Night On Earth

pulled a copy to vhs off the independent film channel ages ago and watched it endlessly.

we've since gotten the official version. 'it's the newest, it's the latest. it's fresh'! roberto benigni wins it for me, by far one of jim jarmusch's best projects
