BoC boxset

Recommended Posts

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately and I really am willing to bet that 2011 is going to bring the goods with boc. it's not just going to be a new album either. I'm thinking the new album is going to be either a double disc (1 guitar analog style and 1 darker electronic style). or separate from a new single disc regular album will be some old tracks repackaged and released, some we've heard before and some we haven't) as a separate release a few months later.

I'm so confident in this I'm willing to take bets.

Well I'd imagine Warp is up to some money laundering scheme, why else would they be taking so long to sort it out :cisfor:

..because BoC haven't written any music to go with it?

what was supposed to be on the BoC's box set anyway?

or is it gonna be another Ae EPS style set with a load of old tracks that people have already got?

See, this is where it goes wrong. Put your focus into something more worthwhile and the new BOC will come whenever it will. Try finding a cure for cancer, or something.

seeing how much mileage they get by pillaging and recycling elements from Old Tunes tracks (747, anyone?) my vote is on never re: boxset

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

Same here, I don't think they'll ever do a bocset( :emotawesomepm9: ), it was only ever mentioned once after the leak of the Old Tunes, which already is a sign that it was just something to calm the situation. It's never happening.

I hope they're aware how much die hard fans really love all their old stuff though, and I hope they release it one way or another someday.

I am not a betting man (got enough vices lol). But I would really like to see a BOC box set of all their music pre-Twoism nicely put together with pukka artwork and some good notes from the band. I think this is really important for them, Warp and all of their fans. Hell they wouyld even make more fans if they got this together because so much of their music is just so brilliant.

I was reading an old interview with BoC and they said that Warp had bought the rights to all their early music. Thats a guarantee there will be a some sort of boxset/compilation, because Warp wouldn't of shelled out for that without a return.

Happy days!

that's interesting, and a good point! maybe there will be a BoC's-set one day then after all... i'd like to see what you described there, too.

and it would sell tonnes, literally!

they've been absent for toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long now, they really need to do something!!!!

I seem to recall reading that too (can't recall where though) - perhaps that's another reason they're in no hurry to put out their next releases... living on the licensing rights! :emotawesomepm9:

I found the interview a few weeks backs somewhere on BoC pages but I can't be bothered to find it now otherwise I'd paste it up. But that's what was said, albeit a very, very long time ago (BOC time lol)

i want to clarify something too, by boxset i don't mean every single release that has been fantasized about like acid memories, catalog 3, etc. i just feel like there will be some kind of package that will include a bunch of hand selected older pieces compiled for one new release.

Box means there has to be at least 2 cd's in it. More likely more.

They should put out 2 versions. 1) the singing all dancing BOCset for me (and all of you) limited to 500. And the crappy version for Amazon and Tescos.

I doubt we're getting the old material, at least not 2011. I feel like they're going to crap out something new first.

Maybe next time?

Either way I don't care. I'd rather have the old stuff. Those 3 teaser tracks are killing me.

lol. I'm actually a bit leery of BoC trying to "improve" their Old Tunes stuff. I didn't like what they did with 747. If they ever do re-release the early stuff, I would hope it would just be a remastering, no tinkering.

But I still doubt they will do it. Have you ever tried to revisit that half-finished novel or batch of poems you wrote in high school/undergrad? I tried once and it was just too hard to do, like digging through ancient history, dead stuff...Despite their nostalgic bent, BoC also seem quite intent on forging ahead and leaving their experiments behind...

Well, to be fair, we never heard 747 properly since it was part of that Flash landscape toy... I imagine 747 pretty much always sounded like that, and gave the separated audio tracks to the guy who made the Flash site, and since we all heard it that way first, it coloured our expectations of what the track should sound like...

Yeah I know we've been over this ground before...you may be right, I remember how the sound changed on the flash site depending on which speakers you were closest to (though iirc beach at redpoint was pretty similar in overall feel? maybe I'm hallucinating)...still, I think that 747 sounded much more minimalist and trip hop, like it wouldn't have been out of place on IABPOITC ep, whereas the final version feels to me like it came from the TCH/TCH ep "more layers is better" era. Dunno, but I'm going to stick to my hunch. In any case I feel like the drums from that old tunes track that open 747 feel really out of place and don't mesh with the rest of the track, I was disappointed about that...
