Autechre Autechre!

So I had thoroughly burnt out any lasting impact that most Ae music had had on me up until recently. It's been several months since I've listened to them more than a track here or there. Lately I've been wondering why music just doesn't sound the same, why a lot of it is fun, but none of it is spine-tingling, endorphin-inducing awesomeness like I remember music to be.

Then I realized it. It's because I remember a time when pretty much all I listened to was Ae. And it was awesome. I listened to Surripere, Cipater and Nuane yesterday and I literally came blood it was so fucking awesome.

I guess I just needed a break. Too much of anything can be a bad thing I suppose. Anyways just thought I'd let you guys know that I'm back to thinking Autechre is fucking legendary unmatchable quality. Anyone who disagrees isn't listening hard enough.

Did you not know that if you listen to songs constantly they loose their appeal. Moderation is the key to keeping all the tracks sounding fresh.

Yeah I know, I'm just pretty drunk and enthusiastic atm. Part of the reason I slowed down listening to them was in the hopes that they would regain appeal for me. I'm not planning on destroying it again.

i'll listen to an album like 2-3 times a YEAR. my brain can't handle anything for very long. except for the occasional track i'm obsessed over

To me Etchogon-S is like the sound of boredom, like music created by someone who is bored with what they do, but having to do it because it's their job. Whereas something like Acroyear II sounds like pure excitement, like while they were making it they thought 'wow, this is awesome!'..But other people don't feel that way about Etchogon-S. Maybe I'm just the one who is bored (lol)

I over-listened to Autechre for a period of time as well, along with a few other artists, and now I'm finding that music does nothing for me anymore. I had a period of a few years where it did a lot, and now, nothing. I think I am healing. I was never into music anyway, so I've just returned to how I was before. I am quite worried actually, I have a few 'key' tracks that get me going more than anything else, and they've shifted over the years as they've become replaced by other, better music. At the moment it's only been Welcome to Europe that's done anything, supplemented by track 7 on Alright!. It might just be that music can now become pleasant background music for me, but even then, with everything you could want on Spotify, it loses its lure. I think 'yeah it's alright I suppose' sort of sums up my emotional range.
