Well, I opened my 606 up and there were no electrons, only ones and zeros so I figured it must be a rompler.

that doesn't really explain why there are loads of mods for it, like BD decay and Snare tune etc etc

that wouldn't be possible if it was a rompler I think??

more love for the 101. 606 is 100 percent analog brah. 303 sold that, sheeeit.101 is the only thing ive had that i can put in everytrack and it fuckin works

Yeah i had a x0x b0x and just recently got a 101. I'd rather have 3 101's than 1 303. I never imagined such a "simple" layout of synth could produce such a wide variety of analog sounds. Also lol @ every sh-101 vst emulation i've ever tried. Just plain lol. Also interface is one of the best ever, I never used sliders much before, mostly knobs for ages. Sliders are my new favorite thing.

Have you ever tried a 202?

People always rave about their 101 but the 202 is a far more capable box, better form factor, same voice architecture, etc...

Is it that y'all just haven't tried one?

I've had them both. Yes, there are a few differences (LFO shapes for example) but overall the are the same synth.

P.S. You clearly have something against the x0xb0x if you say something like you'd rather have three of the same mono synth. What's the point of that? How about an x0xb0x AND a 101....makes more sense.

Korg Monotron, because I don't really like analogue synths and I can play with it on the toilet.

much as I like the 202 the 101 is for me a more hands on, easy to use synth which is much more practical in real world terms. almost everyone I respect in electronic music says the same.... I would like a 202 don't get me wrong, but would take a 101 over it in a heartbeat.

it's a shame the 101s and 202s are getting so expensive at the moment

actually, everything's getting expensive lately, even alpha junos I think

better than the SH-2

I respectfully disagree and that's why I sold the 202 and kept the sh2.

I'm not trying to bust your balls, but they have the same sliders and everything. So what makes the 101 more practical?

I'm seriously trying to understand.

Well I didn't want to derail since this thread is about analog, but it's mainly b/c D16 Phoscyon is enough and even more for me, granted it's not the EXACT sound, I like 303 sounds drowned in fx so it's perfect and has a good interface. I don't have anything against the x0x, it's a fab synth. I just felt my 303 bases were covered elsewhere :)

mainly the proper keyboard and simple sequencer

My friend just got one for $115 on ebay. The deals are out there.

My favorite analog - MKS-80.

The keyboard is the ONLY thing I think you can argue stands out: the mc-202 has TWO onboard sequencers ;) Way more powerful than the 101's...

To each his own. I am speaking as a person who wants more space and less keyboards in his studio. The mc-202 is such a cute little package.

Oh, I agree totally. I never learned how to use it. Instead, I hacked cv inputs for porta and accent and controlled it externally.

i'm not huge on analog fx (more function speaking than sound as i don't disagree that a lot of analog fx are great), for synths at least. For guitar yes. I know that seems illogical but i stand by it! I do appreciate a good analog delay on synths tho.

I'd choose the 101 if I had to.

Personally I dig the noise oscillator for puffy basses, and the random LFO setting which makes for a cool sample and hold effect on the filter when synched to the 606. The 202 has neither of these features.

The accent and switchable portamentos on the 202 are pretty cool too, though.

I have a 202 and i love it. it has some features not on the 101 like accent and delay on the lfo, but i still desperately want an 101.

i want them to make sweaty analog bubbly sex together.
