I'd not heard of this "Record Store Day". Usually go shopping on Thursday morning when they get their deliveries in. What was so special about yesterday?

The Art of Noise - Into Battle & Worship (heavy blue vinyl)

I was wondering about that, would've picked it up if I'd seen it. Apparently there's unreleased stuff on there? Is there very much, and is it the customary variations of Beat Box and Moments In Love? (I love Into Battle, btw).

Scrub that, just found the CD version on discogs.

releases come out on record store day that are generally limited and/or exclusive to participating record stores, as incentive to have record shoppers come out of their parents' basements and spend some money. for example: the new panda bear record got a record store day edition of clear vinyl, and comes with a t-shirt. shit like that. other releases can be more or less warranted though—like some death cab for cute record (unwarranted), and a limited clark/bibio split using warp's generic purple sleeve (....a little more warranted, but i'll probably still ebay mine).

i didn't end up getting any of the actual rsd-related releases, but i did get a bunch of other random stuff for sale prices.

U2 - Please (single)

Cadence Weapon - Breaking Kayfabe

Presidents Of The USA - Peaches & Live (JPN single) (lol)

Prince & The Revolution - Around The World In A Day

Boards - Peel Session

i'm sure you guys find the above list just thrilling.

the stores around here try and have performances on rsd—some dudes were rapping at me while i was perusing the used bin, kinda weird. also there was free pizza.

That list is awesome!

I keep praying for something I'm interested in to come out on RSD. I mean give me a real reason to stand in these lines, I challenge you.

I feel like every time i look at a RSD list, that I'm viewing the next Coachella lineup.

Yeah, fuck that. (and by that, I mean I'd do it if Richard James would have a cup of coffee and at the very least, throw out some archive stuff)

always buy used! for 70$USD:

panda bear - tomboy lp w/hipster shirt

walter murphy - gentle explosion 12" :spiteful:

doctor's cat - feel the drive 12" (awesome italo-disco, somewhat rare too it seems)

al green - living for you lp

shalamar - take that to the bank 12"

rusty bryant - soul liberation

hank crawford - it's a funky thing to do lp

mahavishnu orchestra - birds of fire lp

karen silver - nobody else 12" (another early italo-classic, gino soccio)

paul humphey - me and my drums lp

candi stanton - young hearts run free lp

david ruffin - self-titled lp (circa 1973)

kraftwerk - trans-europe express lp

black uhuru - chill out 12"

thank god, the local folks from numero group set up a one-day-only shop and all of their pals and the staff just brought in their old stuff to sell. the actual price i should've paid for all of that is easily 3x, all of it is near-mint except the kraftwerk and rusty bryant lp's.

only tomboy looked especially appealing of the record store day specials but i was going to get it anyways.
