itunes sucks? well this comes as a bit of a shock for me ...

it's a stupid piece of apple-filetype-monopoly propagating shit, like all their products.

+1 on teh foobar

add the discogs tagging addon and it's a pretty much perfect, incredibly configurable audio player which is light on resources. plugins for anything you want to do.

do say. *checks out discogs plugin*

I've been a Winamp user for years, but lately it's seemed to become a pretty big memory hog the more & more they add to it with each version.

I tried Foobar at WATMM's suggestion and haven't gone back. Now THAT'S how a media player should run.

Foobar for audio, VLC for video. Super low memory usage for Windows users without all the sleek looking BS that clogs up your processor.

[edit] Also, iTunes has always sucked for Windows, between it's memory hog coding, sluggish boot-up, and completely unwarranted Quicktime takeover of your system.

Foobar is an example of why the linux community needs to suck it up and stop making shitty software(seriously, find me something as good as foobar for linux, besides mpd and console client of choice(which is pretty much the way to go, but not really the same). I love VLC though, despite it's problems(renders some files not as perfectly as mplayer for example, also the way it renders subtitles is retarded). iTunes was great when it first came out, had great library management from the get-go and simple interface, but at this point foobar is just so much cleaner and awesome and also has really good library management as well.
