and dude, i didn't even touch jazz, reggae, funk, old electronic, etc. the sixties are fucking epic. but as a sidenote: both the village green preservation society, and S.F. sorrow are both amazing concept albums (moreso the former, though, imo) and worth checking out in their entirety.

I'm more and more convinced that the 60s was the best decade for music. I've been slowly listening to stuff for years, but over the past year I've really gotten deep into it. Even more recently, like 6 months, I've seriously cut down on electronic music and been listening to tons of psych rock/pop, folk rock, blues rock, etc. from the 60s.

The Byrds are a band that hit me BIG this year. Fucking amazing band, first 4 albums are completely amazing. Subtle at first...then they work their way into you in a crazy way. I had Mr. Tambourine Man last year and thought it was ok but man this year it became amazing. I like Turn! Turn! Turn! (despite the overplayed title track) and The Notorious Byrd Brothers the best.

Lots of other great stuff posted in here, like Love (Four Sail is quite amazing as well), The Kinks, The Zombies, Small Faces, The Pretty Things, King Crimson, The Stones and Beatles of course. Been getting into The Yardbirds as well. Many I've yet to hear, too, so thanks.

yup. although that track's my favourite. they were listening to a lot of coltrane around the time they recorded it, and the lead guitar is a conscious attempt to emulate his style.

I've never heard either of these guys, but listening to the songs reminds me of Gene Clark's solo stuff (from The Byrds). Check out his album No Other.

I love this song so much.

Either this or Hangin' on the Telephone is the best pop song ever, I can never make my mind up. HOTT has a better 'middle 8'/guitar solo, but lacks oboe...

love are probably my favorite band from the 60s. arthur lee was fucking brilliant. that voice.. could go from punk screams to a beautifully soft coo. a rare individual. bryan maclean wrote some good tunes as well.

I'm just posting live stuff here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drNqZWzj5GY

Often overlooked Australian beat band. Angus and Malcolm Young's older brother in this band.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH-brb3aftQ

Steve Marriott seriously 10-15 years ahead of his time rocking so hard here. Who else in the '60s had their guitar that low?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39SjyMvBbk4

Such a heavy track. Iron Maiden also recorded a video at this Abbey!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r57V1x-xc_I

Rarer track to see live by the Zombies - my favorite band of the '60s.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nS_icLajXcU

Love the jazziness of her voice. Reminds me of Kim Weston's best stuff. Best songwriting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySjxZDT_5SA

Lame intro on this show but moodiest verses and best chorus ever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQKx47otiIE

If you're into baroque pop - the Left Banke. Rare track for a live performance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d48n4ESFgE

Stevie Wonder testifying so hard on this track.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4BBQMjbX3c

Such a psychedelic classic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiSB9tHeMUw

The funk.
