Fresh from a big 2010 that saw 'Corrosion' become many people's candidate for album of the year, and a follow up 12" with remixes from Autechre and The Black Dog that brought even greater attention to the project, the next job for anodyne (Colin Cloughley) is to now release what is bizarrely his debut solo 12".

While 'Corrosion' showed Colin's love for early Black Dog and Warp Records, this ep starts off with the more growling intent of 'Destruction' - a venomous techno/dubstep hybrid that brings together the rawest elements of both genres, that’ll no doubt tear many club rooms a new one. '地獄’is a straight hitting acid/hoover attack that descends into all sorts of chaos - reminiscent of the power of Polygon Window coupled with the madness of Spiral Tribe; this is a track that quickly brings things into disrepute.

On the b-side 'Menace 808' revisits the electro/breakbeat rave sound with all sorts of twists and turns that eventually drops into a pure unashamed hands in the air breakdown; one for the fields and festivals this summer? You know it is. Closing with the pacy, glitched up breaks of 'Talon', anodyne proves once again that when it comes to haunting yet majestically uplifting dancefloor music, there are few better in the game.

I was literally listening to this just now on my da's turntable. The sound was pristine and the tracks are sexy as fuuuuuck.

is it available on vinyl? ..cos some of those tracks would sound good on 33. .....nice!

edit: yep i see it's available on vinyl, d'oh. and it's out just at the right time as i've got some spare cash!! :D

didn't like that as much... sounded a bit too much like the new-age Black Dog, tbh.

much prefer 'Destruction 808'.. sounds more raw, rugged and aggressive as opposed to paddy, breathy and shiney.

Fair enough sirch. But Im not some moron thats wandered in here no knowledge. Ive been following Anodyne for a while, and it seems he's started to perfect his sound.

A fucking amazing sound at that. Not really like anything Ive heard in a while. Id never have compared this to new tBD ever. More like Autechre to me, but I dont want fan gays on my back for that. But thats always how Ive defined it to mates, "Dance-able Autechre".

doesn't sound anything like ae to me mate. destruction 808 sounds more like aphex to me, if anything.

the other vid you posted to the next ep... i can hear the similarity to ae beats.... in the hi hat loops, but that's about it. the rest seems very much like recent black dog work to me.

Digital release is meant to be May 5th I think.

definitely one for me to get hold of. it's a shame that Corrosion isn't on vinyl, i think that'd be tasty.
