I just signed up for another gmail account 5 minutes ago, didn't have to give them a number.

It was my first gmail account.

Well it's not like I told it I had another account.

hmmm, maybe they just consider me someone to know the position of. I KNOW that i had to give them a number. I'm wondering if they changed it and then changed it back?

some of the reasons i use gmail

1. best spam filters i've ever seen on a web-based email service.

2. free IMAP access (and thusly, free push email if you have a mobile phone with a client that can be configured to use IMAP IDLE).

3. the Labels feature.

4. Google Talk with Video, right in the browser.

5. Contacts integration with my Android handset, with almost instant parity of data between the contacts stored in Gmail and on my phone.

I recently started hosting my own mailserver but yeah gmail is very solid, the spam filter is very good.

A nice gmail tip for those of you who don't know: you can add things to your email-address with "+" and it'll still get routed to your inbox. For example: you can use yourname+sitename@gmail.com to register on some random site. Everything behind the + doesn't matter. So when you get unsolicited mail you can see what site is abusing your email.

good: use gmail.

better: use google apps with a domain you registered yourself (not via google). this way you can easily change mail providers in the future without losing your email address.

it's free if you already have a domain registered somewhere. i have like 40 domains registered. *shrug*

tl;dr

Australia Mail is good. You get an .edu ending thing, so you can get discounts on things that require a student email.

Gmail layout.

Just hoverbiked in to say that I've been using yahoo mail since most of y'all were popping zits to SAW1, and have been completely satisfied.

hotmail has angered me too long, after I come back from college it's my priority to sort a gmail email out and redirect important mails to it!
