soundcloud spam

i looked in my dashboard today and there was a spam comment in response to one of my buds' tracks... he deleted it or i would post it; do people spam your soundcloud? i mean like the kind of spam that happened to project168, not spamming their latest creations

Yeah I get the same. Not bragging or anything but I think the quality of my tunes has improved but other folks with average tunes (not naming names) get tonnes of comments. :(

I'm gonna be doing a promotional push in the next few months to really get my name and music out there so hopefully that'll pay off.

Ps I was wondering why you had no comments 'cause you have some reasonable tunes up there.

there is the mantra that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - maybe that's it.

dont give a shit on peoples comments. people just comment if you commented their tracks - its just some big promo orgy of 69 ass-licking. your tunes are nice.

spam it to some groups of you want comments!

i had a track that i thought was pretty good that had 200 plays with no comments or anything but then some "semi well known underground artist" with quite some followers favorited it and the comments came flooding in after that. so you have to be lucky someone cool finds it i guess lol.

ya soundcloud has become quite the social music hotspot recently. I also have no comments :D

You have to actually send the tracks to the groups by the way, not only be a member.

yeah. there are tracks with a zillion comments, and this is how, i think. those are shit comments though. 20 dudes going "Sick!" in reaction to a wubb-wubb bass.

i try to listen to most of what goes through the dashboard, and comment here and there.

i still feel soundcloud kicks living shit out of myspace !

Soundcloud's good.

Sometimes the comments on there are somewhat useless (especially on the big warp artist songs for example) but I think it's a nice system, sympathetic.

I used it for mixes and occasional tracks then take them down. Lately, I've been using it for remix contests that pop up every now and then. I have a remix up for a Darin Marshal contest right now. Looks like I've been using it for my more tech house stuff lately.

I think the main reason I get little response is because I really don't promote or advertise this at all. I've had comments on the mix, but on facebook where I posted it a few times... I've gotten no spam.

Funny you mention that. I got a comment yesterday that was total spam. Was something like "hey cutie, check out my website xoxo" and a picture of some girl's midriff.

i got like 7 spam comments today, but i won't delete them

i've been getting a lot of spam from someone called TRANSLUNAR. He shares with me and 4000+ other users his private tracks, even though i never listen to them and don't follow him. I've also been getting "Pending moderation in WATMM" messages which is odd because i haven't been active on soundcloud for almost a year. I guess that happened automatically or someone picked me by accident.

Yeah that one is my fault, I made everyone that I recognise from WATMM a mod so they dont have to wait for their tracks to be approved. You can change the setting so you dont get emails from them...er....somewhere...

the only "spam" i get is followers who have never heard my music. I think they just want me to follow them back. suckas.

i get at least a few comments on each of my tracks. Im also a pretty heavy user tho. I will search a key word and listen for hours until i find something good. then i make a constructive comment and follow them. I try to be an active member and really know whats going on around me from legit artists. Also searching for users in your town is a really good way to get feedback/community..."oh i see this dude is in indianapolis too...?...ill check him out." For only making electronic music for a year and a half now, i feel im do well for myself. I expect people who really care to hear it.
