Where is the soul in Quaristice?

Spent some time listening to Quaristice this weekend - I wanted to give it a second chance. It didn't work.

It has no soul. To me, Q always sounded like a collection of effects. Dead electronica with no soul implemented. Their by far weakest album. I like Simmm a bit. But that's about it.

Yeah I agree with the OP. I was dissapointed in this album. But hey, the will at least make their next album seem 10x better. Assuming it'll be any good to begin with.

Try harder. It's awesome once you get there. Listen to versions in one piece without skipping. Versions sounds more like a live act it's not as great if you pick single tracks

Why can't they just make pointless Acid tunes all day then I would like them so much better

I was really disappointed at first. But it grew on me. Now I like it a lot. I'd say don't give up.

Perlence range 3 and The PlclCpC really helped for me.

Also Outh9x has become my all time favourite Autechre track.

More soul than a sock with a hole, Quaristice.

After Confield, Draft, and Untilted, Quaristice is clearly the most soulful album if you ask me.

Even though I really like the previous three albums, I think your criticism of Quaristice as just a collection of effects applies to those much, much more.

What's soul? No scientific term at least. Not soul as in "soul music", what I mean is Quaristice to be only a Frankenstein body and Ae forgot to put the brain/life/soul/spirit into it.

Yes, melodies, maybe part of it. Pen Expers has melody and soul. I also mean something like an (album/track)overall concept, a plan, an idea. Lentic Catachresis has more soul than the whole Q. album. Why? Don't know Maybe I'm part of the soul creation process and my love of Confield implants a soul into Confield---

Maybe Q is a case for funky chilling for the IDM generation. But that's not enough for me. EP, Perlence Subrange 6-36 WTF? Are they kidding? I want music, a plan, a good idea, artists with visions, not varying loops.

I'll help you out. "Soul" is just the word people use when comparing an album they like.... to an album they don't like. Except "soul" implies that their opinion is superior and therefore anybody who doesn't agree should be put under question.

Nono, soul is in my case also an accusation of them taking the piss. No one can proof, but the album sounds like they had to create an album but didn't feel like. SonDEre-ix is like they want to insult us - but also know about zealotry.

Tell me a path to Quaristice, I didn't find one. Still interested...

I tell ya what i hate. The way Tankakern gets boring after 2 secs. Not crazy about Quaristice........Quadrange i love though.

Oversteps has about the same amount of soul for me, if not less. Only the final and more subtle tracks on Oversteps have a feel for me. See On See and the likes are pretty much dead cause they're trying too hard.
