ableton live contains so much shit recently

Ermm... Musicians? Which one is the cheap software synth? Abletons synths are all amazing. Especially operator.

yeah maybe I should just spend more time with it. but having my nice melody deconstructed by some randomizer made me doubt that most of the new stuff is very useful. lol can you give me a hint about whats awesome in live 8? tutorials?

Google Ableton Live portable, get the useful Ableton gubbins without the fluff.

Works with other apps too.

I was working with live 7 until today. Maybe I should concentrate more on the hidden gems in Max4live instead of wasting my time with out of the box presets

Randomiser may be usuless, I don't even know about it lol. I don't particularly like those midi effects in live. But the synths are really great. Operator is genius, I wish there would be a vst version of it.

randomizer is useful. i like to record some random stuff, sample the good parts, put good parts together to make better parts.

I love the Midi effects in Live especially the Appegiator.

I am not bitching. I have been working with live for several years. Maybe its just time to read the manual again.

Software bloat is exactly what killed Cool Edit.

Well in the case of Cool Edit, Adobe bought it, added a load of new useless features, and made it slower and sound worse. So using the older version is the only way to avoid the negative effect of the bloat in that case. I don't use Ableton any more so I can't comment on its latest version, but I've usually (but not always) found that the best software I've used is the stuff that doesn't try to do everything, but rather picks one particular area and excels at that. That's not a hard and fast rule though.

Just because you cant/don't use it, doesn't mean it's useless. If you'd spent some time learning about them, you might have less time to bitch about it.

I'd hardly call Live 8 bloated. I think the way Ableton is set up makes "features" as it were, unobtrusive. I need to delve into Live's built in stuffs, as I mainly use 3rd party plugs, almost out of habit than anything else. Well, habit and laziness perhaps.

I haven't used ableton much, but I LOVE the multiband compressor, it's really useful! Not cumbersome to use at all. It's sort of like Operator, that instrument they have.. Just really nice.

i made a similar complaint a few months ago. it's not bloated but there's a bunch of shit in it i don't use so feel i don't need it. if i could remove things i don't want, like a daw that only uses 3rd party vsts i would like that.

I think it was more the "I just want to compose a nice melody" person inside me that got irritated by all this. I am kind of fed up with all these glitch effects that distract you from building a solid song. Its like: ah there is a semi-nice composition lets add some midi randomness on top - done. I just want to get away from that in my composition and live seens to take the oposite direction which made me post this in a form that was a bit more rude than I intended.
