Looks like this is getting pretty big around here. It's been reviewed (4/5) in a dutch newspaper and on the website of a public broadcaster. I also just heard lofticries in an ad for an upcoming show or something.

Belispeak is great btw.

I got pretty worn out on this rather quickly. I hope they diversify in the future. Some great tracks though...

My LP was warped so I returned it. I won't be replacing it. I'll put the cash towards something with more staying power.

I like that music video for Lofticries. It shows how sample-based videos should be done; no repeating scenes, not overly synced with the beat, and frequently switching shots.

also batch you still haven't told me what your avatar is from

Obedear is very nice, and I have been enjoying Lofticries and Ungirthed since I found this thread last year. I like how consistent the album is, but I also think that they will need to expand upon their current style in the future. Fantastic stuff overall though.

It's a good album. Even if a lot of it does feel samey, it's a good kind of samey if you're into the music at all.

I went to see these guys last night at Oxford Art Factory and they kinda sucked. boring set of mostly samey, gimmicky material. they had these luminous rubber bulbs set up around the deck which they'd bang on with drumsticks for added percussion/fx but I'm pretty sure they didn't do anything and it was all pre-sequenced because I saw the guy miss a few times and do a face like he'd just sharted.

I'd only heard Lofticries prior to this so I wasn't sure what to expect. it's was evident watching them last night that they're a hype band with not much substance (yet). dig some of their studio productions but avoid seeing live until they've matured.

edit: btw some of it really gave me a Salem kinda vibe, only not so balls-out shitty.

Evidently they've been struggling with the idea of live electronic performance... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7co4rRsusg

Shrines does sound a bit samey and I haven't been returning to it much of late. Some great tracks on there though.

sounds like they are treating concert attendees like babies or puppies who need a colorful chew toy to be happy. I really like the idea of a performance that's easy to pack up afterwards. having a bunch of fancy art installation crap littering the stage is like having to get up after sex and throw away the condom. if the performers have good sound/energy and attract a crowd with good vibes then you don't need a bunch of glowing balloons everywhere.

w/e it was sweet in concert. Goofy, yes, tacky, yes, but it worked out. Honestly, Evian Christ's music was better but he didn't have the same stage presence.

edit:

@radarjammer

also, that piano thing was awesome too. I really liked how the wires sounded as it swung back and forth; made it very melancholy, like a dying machine.

I think Aphex has earned that type of ego bloated theatrical event so I get it when him or Richie Hawtin does something like that but I'm talking about the New York artschoo fag DIY arts and crafts indie wowoo shit that doesn't impress me.

This just makes you sound like an elitist prick. People cant have visuals cos young.

All you want is a bearded man under a table playing with wires throughout the whole show, say it.

New song from upcoming album.

And here's a version of a Jon Hopkins track (off of Immunity IIRC) with Purity Ring on it, just found it and it's pretty nice.

New song is ehhh. They will never be as good as I hoped they would continue to be after Lofticries, Ungirthed and Belispeak. Shrines was way too samey and this sounds like Taylor Swift or some shit. There's another new song here:

Purity Ring - push pull:

They did a song with Danny Brown for those who haven't heard it:
