I hate waking abruptly. I have an app on my phone that measures my sleep movement. If it measures high movement between 10u00 to 10u30 (or 10u30 if I didn't move) it sends a command to my MPD server which slowly fades in some selected wake-up music through my speakers.

my kids are my alarm.

shit yeah. i still switch my alarm off at the weekend stupidly thinking i'll get a lie in, only to be awakened an hour earlier than usual.

i remember lie-ins... vaguely... fondly.

- 6:00 am, wake up to a tune on my phone, usually "flim". shower, eat, read some news, out the door at 7:20.

- 9:00 pm, a black moth super rainbow tune, to remind my wife to take her medicine.

a good idea for an alarm is a set of tracks from a popular idm album, say lp5, but played in the wrong order. the outrageousness of a wrong track order should wake up any self respecting idm fan proper.

It's on my phone. It plays an annoying song.

I also have an mp3 alarm clock for those times that I think I won't be able to get up. I throw in Venetian Snares' "Vache" and some other loud pounders. Like:

Usually, my alarm goes off at 7 am. I wake up so early in the morning so I have time to get fresh, go downstairs, smoke a bowl an eat some Grape Nuts. By 7:45, I gotta leave the house for the bus stop so I can catch my bus.

Sometimes, however, my friends will drive by the stop looking for me. If I see them, they'll pull over and make room for me to get in and catch a ride to school.

Here's where it gets complicated, though: So the guy who drives just got his license, and, well, he's not the best driver! Swerving all over the place, looking at me for minutes straight instead of the road. Why do people look at you when they talk whilst driving cars?! But then, in the back seat is Jamie, and I think he has had a crush on me for some time now. It's embarrassing, because I don't really like him all that much. Nobody in my class does, really; he's kind of a dork and just tries too hard to be cool, so he ends up looking like an idiot. So then I have to choose -- do I get stared at and risk my death in the front seat? or do I get awkwardly hit on in the back seat?

I usually hope the bus just comes and picks me up so I don't have to decide which seat I should take.

lol

Weekdays : Generic mobile alarm tone goes off at 5:50am. Snooze for 9 mins(WTF?) and get up at 5:59.

Weekends : If I'm working on Saturday it's a 7:00 alarm and do repeated snoozes until I HAVE TO get up which is usually 7:20-7:35. If no work then the alarm stays silent (unless the AUS GP is on).

mc kids

phone plays song from mc kids at 6;00am.

used to play Ceephax - Shoulderpad 5079BC until it drove me absolutely insane.

when i used to have some extra time in the morning to lounge around, i'd queue an ambient album to play really quietly an hour before i had to get up (with the phone acting as a back up). this way there was no harsh abrupt wakening and half the time i'd be able to get out of bed when i actually felt awake and ready to get out of bed. good stuff.

yeah used it, works pretty sweet actually! you wake up at a point where you're really close to waking up anyway, so it's not felt so much as a disturbance. But it only works if you're sleeping alone, and it is retarded sleeping with your phone on the matras.

The best idea for an alarm clock I have seen is owned by girl I know. Basically when the alarm goes off a piercing sounds alarms and a little helicopter takes off and randomly flies around until it runs out of steam. The alarm continues to sound until you find the helicopter and place it back on it's landing pad.

Great for messy rooms.
