Hey. I need to found some dark ambient music. I want it eerie and not 100% harsh noise. Do you know someone? A. Twin, Eno, I know them.... anymore?

Hear, like this:

As a gift with love, the best ambient music ever made (at least for me):

The Caretaker - "A Stairway to the Stars" is a gorgeous album. (I love most of the caretaker stuff)

Lustmord is the obvious go to.

Some of Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Vidna Obmana (one of my personal faves), Coil, some of Alio Die's stuff, Vir Unis, lots more...love it.

I dunno if you would exactly classify this as "dark ambient" but the guitars in lustmord reminded me of Branca's stuff...

I've heard some Lustmord, Stalker and the like, but always found their music somewhat dull... To me it seems that their main mission is to produce dissonant sounds and then leave it there without putting much thought into emotion and composition. This is something that seems to bug 90% of all "dark" ambient, and it leaves me empty inside because I feel I'm not even listening to anything.

I do however greatly love Maeror Tri and Troum (it's the same people behind these two, essentially) , and these are the only "dark" ambient groups that I find worth my time. Not scary music in my opinion, but some of the most emotionally crushing I've encountered.

The two Tower albums by Mordant Music fit the bill, I'd say. First listened to those with all the lights off and through headphones, worked perfectly.

40days - I highly recommend you checking out our very own brisk who goes under the alias 36 : http://www.3six.net/

His music sounds very similar to that link you posted and is just simply breathtakingly beautiful (especially his last two 7'' releases)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I have 1500+ plays of 36 on Last.fm :) Great music indeed. Never really thought of it as "dark" ambient, but yeah you are right it fits the category. Edited by 40days

Edit: Sorry I see you mentioned Eno at the starting, but still great tracks.
