I mean, it's not that I don't think it's a really good track. I love it.

It's that Geogaddi is such an amazing experience, it gets so dark, harrowing and unsettling. I feel that Julie and Candy doesn't quite fit into the Geogaddi mixture as well as the rest of the album.

it's like Geogaddi is a cave, getting deeper and deeper always looking for a way out, then Julie and Candy is like this weird theme park with lots of midgets at the bottom of the cave?

Am I alone here?

Have you ever seen lots of midgets at a theme park? Because there's usually some dark ass shit going on whenever you see lots of midgets at a theme park.

wherever there are lots of midgets, it's gotta be a dark scene. I can not picture myself in one single scenario that a horde of little people doesn't turn into a tripped out laugh riot or introspective nightmare of sorts.

Julie and candy is perfectly placed and aptly titled. it's definitely dark but has a small ray of light in it. a sweet spot on the record if you will (and pardon the sweet candy pun please).

geogaddi to me is one of the most perfectly paced albums I have ever gotten really into. it's literally perfect to me. having to follow up mhtrtc and taking several years to do so, those boys knew exactly what they were doing with all 66 minutes of that record. and I do not question 1 second of it. not even magic window.

if geogaddi doesn't scare you, you're not doing it right.

Help me do it right.

goto the twoism forums. they're scary. they also like geogaddi. like, a lot. seriously. they really really like it.

They also like ruining Boards of Canada. For everyone who encounters that forum. :wtf:

And furries. They seem to be into that shit.

you really can't hear the dark undercurrent to that track?

edit: i'm not trying to be a sarcastic cunt or anything, like...literally, i'm perplexed that you can't hear it.

Have never found it to be a dark track in any respect really. Has always been a very ethereal, dream-like track to me. Each to his own though!

there is a sinister undercurrent for me, but it's far from the darkest track on the album, definitely. the last 3 tracks excluding magic window have a lightness to them that suggest the rest of the album is a sort of trial-by-fire thing to me. it's an incredible album.

It's always been my least favourite track on the album, I guess I also found it kind of unfitting. But they probably had something in mind for it. I doubt they just "squeezed it in" cause they thought it was nice and wanted it released.

i always thought of the last few tracks as the horrible night/trip is coming to an end and its the light at the end of the tunnel.

that's not the fault of boc. it's the collective weight of meaning attached to the damn thing by twoismy fanbois.

i disagree. it is the fault of them, but it's not reeeeeally a fault. they knew what they were doing.

they've created a massive cult off of a few albums. Geogaddi, inparticular. hats off to them!

their music has become more than just music. - think that's what they wanted to do...... and they've done it.

no wonder they're not bothered about releasing anything else... when they nailed it in 2002!

I'm on the fence about whether it fits or not, but it may just be my favorite track on the album, and certainly one of my favorites by BoC.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

Listened through Geogaddi today. I thought it was lovely.

The weird semi-distorted intro fits so well. It's cheerier than the rest of the album, but that distortion of the music and the interview really fit into it.

I just think it's strange that you'd want to skip it.

strange but true: Julee and Kandi were the name of the Sandison's two Labrador retrievers. Julee died during a freak catapult accident ("You could feel the sky"), while Kandi drowned chasing a frisbee into the ocean ("The Beach at Redpoint"). Geogaddi is a tribute album of sorts. The Story of Xentrix is the Sandison's fantasy of what it would be like to be reunited forever with their furry friends.

geniuslol

It's not so much the melodic content to the track as it is the sound quality used that I believe makes it fit. The flute lead flutters in and out like a tape missing a portion of it's ribbon, the sort of fractured quality the rest of the album contains.
