BCM
fucking hell this place is a gold mine: Quote Myself, I think they are OK. Ambient wise, I prefer the non-techno stuff (such as Laraaji and Brian Eno); techno wise, I prefer stuff like The Orb, or the few ambient/house combo groups out there (Vaporspace, for instance). But some of their stuff is quite good. 'rex? Guest disparaissant
Quote Hi, this Michelle Chee. I am using my aunt's e-mail to respond to Peter. I wrote a poem the day Kurt's death was announced, 10 mins after i heard. To You THE GRUNGE KING HAS LEFT THE BUILDING. You. You were the one who made us into what we are today. You made yourself into what you once were. You are the God of Grunge. People saw you as a God. They worshipped you. They still do. I still do. You had your reasons. And we felt them. For whatever the purpose, we still love you. We still do. I still do. You made us, and you broke us. -END- This poem is dedicated to NIRVANA'S KURT COBAIN. 1966 - 1994. There is really not much to say, but it makes you wonder what this world is coming to. It really upsets me that he left his wife, and his daughter behind. Also due to the fact that he left Courtney the law suit that is being filed against them. Bye! As usual, the drum structures are complex (in that Autochre kind of way). The use of sounds fresh and geared into new boundaries. Autochre is definately one of the few projects taking techno (?) and standard techno gear into new directions. This is not a dance EP, but a great listen in the dark. Anyone who enjoyed the Incunabula CD will get into this. Mind music for today. Sorry Simon, maybe next time I'll agree. Brown Oct 17 1992, 10:26 am I just picked up a fantastic new double album by Aphex Twin! It is very mellow, smoother than Polynomial-C and Digeridoo. If you like ambient stuff, get it! Even the old stuff doesn't sound dated at all. Jeez, he must have been, what, 12 years old in '85? xeQYcJWNBz
Quote Gregory Strockbine Nov 30 1984, 10:06 pm Is Eno still doing that ambient music stuff? He lost me after "Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy" and a few songs on "Before and After Science". His ambient video display was here in Berkeley a while ago complete with sofas. So here were all these people very quietly and intently watching a barely, if at all, changing video monitor and listening to ambient music. I thought the whole point of this ambient stuff was that you were supposed to go about doing whatever you had to do and then only occasionally glance at his video or tune into his music. Otherwise its too boring. By the way the tv monitors were turned on their side, oh how clever! Ego Posted June 23, 2011 Report Share Edit Hide Delete Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) It's odd, very different from message boards and mailing lists today. I like how they couldn't just Google around for information, so they had to rely on each other's memories and opinions. They can also be terribly rude, but somehow different from todays trolls.
