One listen in and Jay Lane fucking nails it. Far better than Brian Mantia but still no Herb. Guitar is amazing as always, but as was mentioned before claypool has spent too much time jam-banding. i am happy so far, but it'll take numerous listens to digest. First time i heard Pork Soda i thought it was shit. Awesome.

Finally listened to this. First impressions: drumming is fucking perfect, the songwriting's kind of... generic Primus fare, not many surprises there, but the bassline in Eyes of the Squirrel is just

After digesting this i can now confidently say it's fucking awesome. A nice throwback to the days of seas of cheese, with claypool taking it easy on the douchey jambanding shit he started on in antipop. fucking great album and Lee Van Cleef has to be my favorite right now, that bass line (and lee van cleef) is fucking IMMENSE. Great job!

I'm not a fan of this wahwah filter sweep or whatever Les is using that makes his bass sound like a 303...

and also he's doing a lot of spoken word/storytelling vocals (which is the direction he takes on their next 2 albums, Chocolate Factory and The Desaturating Seven) with that effect that sounds like his voice is coming out of an old radio... he's singing too low key... I miss his birdman voice

technically is a monster of an album, prolific af, but the overall harmonies and melodie themes sound too funky/bluesy sometimes resembling ROCP or RATM...

except for Green Ranger, that's an hell of a song...

I keep giving it a try so probably I'll regret this post later...
