halisray
Yeah but don't those sample packs contain the necessary stuff or are they just random samples like the ones off freesound and shit? Boxus
the sample packs are necessary if you want to use the esx24 sampler plugin. i hear it's pretty good but i've never bothered with it myself. also there's a bunch of built-in loops, but if you have your own sample collection you can probably get by fine without any of that stuff. If you install all the Apple Loops you get awful sax solos, drum beats and so on and all in all they're a whopping 70 gb. You don't need those samples. Al N Aafiysh
15 years ago I had the following workflow: rip a CD into .wav files using iTunes open the .wav files in WaveLab and find cool loops Export the cool loops from WaveLab as new .wav files load new looped .wav files into an Akai MPC 2000 and save as a drum program. So, presently I have an Akai MPC 1000 and Logic 9 on my laptop. It might seem silly to use Logic 9 as nothing more than a .wav editor, but that is what I want to do(since I already own Logic), can anyone suggest a similar workflow? Thanks. p.s. is this whole "Apple Loops" thing worth looking into? Al N Aafiysh
I kind of figured out how to cut the raw loop in the sample editor, and export it as a .wav the apple loop thing will only let me save it as a 'one shot" even though i know it is a 2 bar loop Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Al N Aafiysh's signature Hide all signatures she loves me she loves me she loves me Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67371-logic-studio-9/page/2/#findComment-2282658 Share on other sites
ascdi
Apple Loops as a format is dead end, IMO. I prefer using the MPC to actually cut the loops (easier to audition the looping there), so what I would do is just very roughly cut out the interesting parts of the tune in Logic (or whatever), then load them into the MPC to chop them. But yeah don’t bother with Apple Loops, it’s just some junky metadata and tempo information and crap that the MPC isn’t going to care about anyway. Al N Aafiysh
Ascdi - thank you for your reply. I actually think I am going to do both. cut a rough area to loop in the mpc. make a finer apple loop in the mac with Apple Loop Utility... once i find a loop in the mpc, how do i find it's tempo? in terms of doing/taking both approaches, i should make new separate EKT topics. Thanks! * On 1/31/2015 at 4:16 AM, Ascdi said: Apple Loops as a format is dead end, IMO. Braintree
Logic is pretty bad at editing audio. I would suggest getting a different wave form editor. Adobe Audition, Peak, etc. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Braintree's signature Hide all signatures colindyer.bandcamp.com williamsbraintree.bandcamp.com Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67371-logic-studio-9/page/2/#findComment-2283255 Share on other sites
