I'm excited for Reason 6. I skipped reason 5, so now I get both upgrades for the same price.

Also, I'm really surprised the props are selling an audio interface.

pretty cool, I like the look of that mixer and the built in compression and mastering.. step up from the mclass shit, that was a bit clumsy imo. Nice that it's finally going widescreen too :)

it got expensive though.. and the "essential" version doesn't even include these essential effects that have been there since v1:

Phaser

Foldback Distortion

Unison

Two-Band EQ

Compressor/Limiter

Envelope Filter

RV-7 Reverb

Essential looks no good.

And the audio interface doesn't seem to have midi, so it's totally overpriced.

But I like the looks of the new effects. And there is integrated pitch changing for the audio tracks, which should help the work flow a lot.

The Pulverizer has an envelope follower in it. You should be able to take the CV from that section of the unit and route it to a filter cutoff somewhere. Problem solved.

a follower? somehow, that doesn't sound quite as good. maybe just me..

I will definitely try this out and suggest it to my lazy friends who don't have the ambition to figure out more complex DAWs for recording but understand Reason. I still love reason and I would probably still use it all the time if it could just use VSTs.

reason is for girls who couldn't figure out renoise or max :aphexsign:

I know your just joking around and slightly trolling but, no. Not everyone is trying to spend 3 months designing a personally interesting effects synth or gobbled up IDM glitch algorithm. Different strokes for different folks (Obviously a lot of people on here don't try to make the most brainiest braindance)

I can understand debating what is a better DAW which is just supposed to be the most efficient, dynamic, non-confining mothership to let you record and use as much tools as it can in tandem but... Debating over whether someone should use a very specific software approach in making so many different types of music like Fruity Loops Vs. Reason Vs. Ableton Vs. Max Vs. Reaktor Vs. Buzz = Apples Vs. Strawberries Vs. Oranges Vs. Bananas. They all approach making music so different and have so many different strengths for different mindsets and desires.

Why the fuck did I just seriously respond to that obviously silly ignorant troll bait. Deleting this won't give me that minute 30 back so fuck it

Didn't bother moving from Reason 4 to 5, and was briefly interested in Record but didn't bother.

So Reason 6 = Reason 5 + Record + a couple of new devices.

I think this basically means that Record didn't take off as a separate product like they hoped, so they're folding Record into the main Reason brand.

I like reason but since I discovered other sequencers that could layer several piano rolls on top of each other, colour coded, for simultaneous editing using the Reason sequencer (or the Ableton one for that matter) has been too much hassle.

I'm looking to buy an old version of teh Reason if anyone has a legit copy.

Feeling you on that. I think that everything added after 2.5 is candy.. the rehaul on the sequencer isn't a win for me either. I used v5 for a while on my brand new computer and Kong and Thor are juicy and nice, but I could just as well stick with Subtractor for the rest of my Reason using life..

I used v1 for the longest time because my computer was too slow back then, it was cool pushing my computer like that, having tracks slow down. Reason is an incredibly stable piece of software.

Yeah Reason is quality. I don't use it these days but I sure as hell will not knock it... well aside from the no midi out.

And no third party plugins.

No third party plugins is the only reason I feel really limited using Reason. I was using Rewire to DAWs (which you can apply VSTs on any of the outputs you create for Reason to your DAW) but I read that Rewire will only use one instance of your multi core processor and noticed it was really choking my CPU.

No MIDI out and no plug-ins are also why Reason and Record are so simple and so stable. I tried using Logic again the other day (it had been something like a decade). I must have spent a full ten minutes trying to work out how to change the default plug-in into something else, like one that I'd downloaded a demo of. Create > Whatever is so much easier, and frankly it's nice that all the devices are designed by the same people and so they all look and act consistently with one another.
