Fred McGriff
salmon's great. once it gets overcooked it's bad though. people who hate salmon have probably had too much of the dried out catfood version. growing up, my mom used to make "salmon croquettes" out of canned salmon. basically patties of canned salmon fried up in the skillet. fucking hideous. i didnt like salmon either, until i had some properly prepared, moist, delicious salmon. raw salmon is good too. king salmon. smoked salmon = awesome. and i love salmon jerky too. Capsaicin
Smoked meats in general are delicious beyond belief. A cousin of mine always throws a big family get-together for Easter and he just stands in his backyard with his smoker making all sorts of delicious food. acid1
The salmon on the east coast just doesn't measure up to the salmon on the west coast. Sometimes when I go to Boston, I have to remind myself to get something else besides salmon. The trick to buying salmon is to ask for a tail piece that is uniform in thickness, then bake it in the oven after you brush some butter or oil ontop of it. That being said.. Salmon, Rice Pilaf, and Asparagus is probably the best Sunday dinner invented. The next day I'm invigorated and usually cleaned out from the Asparagus. Cook the Rice Pilaf in chicken broth imo. baph
I have had some good salmon on the east coast, but Atlantic Salmon just isn't quite as tasty as your Coho or Sockeye. Edit: also, Atlantic Salmon is way overfished, so most of the US Atlantic Salmon is coming from an aquaculture joint in some far-off land (or possibly Canada). The Rice Pilaf should always be cooked in chicken broth though. Gives it such flavor. baph
Isn't pilaf by definition a dish in which rice is cooked in broth, rendering "rice pilaf"--and the clarification that it should be cooked in broth--totally, like, redundant or whatever? Capsaicin
Speaking of seafood, who here loves crab? Because it's delicious and so rewarding to eat. Unless you're completely lame and just eat pre-cracked crabmeat. Which is still delicious of course but takes away the fun of eating crab. Guest boo
farting is humourous at the dinner table the only thing i object to is fucking nose blowing, especially with a used hanky, sneezing on other peoples food whilst doing the swivel/nose cover thing ineffectively. excuse yourself and go to the fucking wc! you're 50-something years old ffs Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67834-sunday-dinner/page/2/#findComment-1629323 Share on other sites

Hahaha, my dirty secret is that I had a drunkin wild hair up my ass and tried the seafood sensation at Subway a few years ago and now I want to order that delicious low class Subway imitation crab meat on every sandwich I get there but sometimes I don't feel up to the shitty looks the employees give me like I'm a completely white trash idiot. I can't imagine how good real crab would be on a super supreme sandwich, I would put it in my butt everyday if I could. I always excuse myself to the bathroom to blow my nose. this doesnt seem like the norm though. people have no problems blowing their nose on the spot. i'm amazed that someone can be in mid-conversation, whip out a tissue or hanky, and just vacate the contents of their nose. I have to be completely alone. even at home and it's just me and my wife, I will go to the bathroom and shut the door, and make sure I get everything out. another thing: don't chew loudly. if I can hear you chew I will ridge-hand chop you in the throat.
