So ATCQ dropped this in 1993 on Midnight Marauders, and it still fucking bumps hard:

As a kid I wore this cassette out and this was one of my favorite tracks.  I'd always just assumed that the "pad" in the sample was an instrument, only to learn later it's actually Minnie Ripperton holding a high note over the organ.  The whole song slaps, but the sampled part is just passed the 3 min mark:

So this sample was mined separately by Dilla (appears on the Another Batch mixtape) and b/c he was in the Ummah, some ppl seem to think Lyrics to Go is actually a Dilla beat, event tho he didn't meet ATCQ until after Midnight Marauders!  I read Dilla Time (which is fan-tas-tic BTW) and there's nothing in there about it, so my guess is that he probably heard it first on Midnight Marauders and later decided to have a go with the sample himself for kicks.

And for good measure here's the J Cole hit that uses the same sample and got me started down this rabbit hole in the first place.
