new album next spring...

  Quote
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Sigur Rós say they'll release a new album in the spring, their first studio release since the 2008 album Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. The album was recorded following the tour for frontman Jónsi's solo album Go. The band tells The Wall Street Journal that the new album sounds "introverted," "floaty and minimal," "ambient," and "a slow takeoff toward something."

The forthcoming record will follow Inni, the band's new concert film and live album, which is out now in the UK and on November 15 in the U.S. Watch the band perform "Festival" from the film, below.

This film is fuckin wicked. Saw a screening at the Gallery of Modern Art the other night, really enjoyed it. I mean yeah I'm a SR fan but I don't tend to appreciate live concert movies, they tend to all be pretty boring but this one was made well and interestingly processed so it didn't fatigue as much as normal. Also it is quite short; not sure what the Blu Ray or DVD version length is but the cinematic cut runs for only an hour and a half.

Yeah they're the same length (well, certainly the Blu Ray one is)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

blu-ray for a super grainy b/w film seems funny. i know the sound will be amazing, but it still seems funny to me.

Hah, that's true. Is Blu-ray much better than DVD in regards to sound? Or are the super high sample rates and such irrelevant at that point?

Hmm some b/w movies materials have as much of data in picture as normal color movies (greater pallete of color shading) for example Casablanca Bluray. Btw INNI BD is out and some scenes look really poor like a DVD and some are worth of BD.
