Autechre Goz Quarter & Pelt

So I was listening to Goz Quarter on the way into work - and at 5:56, I heard the voice sample that is played throughout Gescom's Pelt. The snare sounds on both songs are exactly the same too. All Autechre/Gescom ties aside, I thought it was pretty cool ...obviously not a shocker though.

Yup... there was a lot of sample re-use from this era.

It was also fun listening to the Laxir remixes for the first time and recognizing a ton of Chiastic Slide samples. If I'm not mistaken, their remix policy is (or was at the time) to only use the source material to create sounds, so that seems to indicate that a bunch of leftover samples from remixes ended up on Chiastic. Fun :)

people say keith is saying 'jam like autechre', but i don't think he is.

Six (I think) apparently asked Kool Keith if he was saying Autechre and his response was "Autechre, the techno band, I said that shit yeah..."

I don't know if he was making it up but I like to believe it's true.

The full line is "watch me jam like Autechre with old energy" - I reckon Autechre jam with more old energy than a semiautomatic gun, but that's just like, one man's opinion.

Plus if any MC had even heard of Ae circa 1996, my bet would be on Kool Keith. time to get get mythbusters up in this piece

I still dont think its true. It's not like kool keith was the first to use the line "jam like a tech", mad child has a song called "jam like a tech" from 1994

why can i not edit posts? sorry but one more thing which is somewhat related: i am fairly certain kool keith was highly influenced by nas because after illmatic his flow took a change from the high-energy attacks of the ultramagnetic MC days to a more relaxed but edgier style well represented by the dr octagon album.

So I guess tec-9s had/have a reputation for jamming, who knew?

The old TEC-9s were unreliable because they were open-bolt and got dirty quick, they also weren't very tolerant to adverse conditions. The newer closed-bolt models aren't really that bad.
