Good thread!

I love Milieu and the Phe_ release is awesome!

My only concern is Brian producing so many records that it's a bit hard at times to follow everything...

My next move will be to go into CH... What would be your advice for a start?

Agreed, I have been lurking this dude hard recently and it would be lovely if there was a better way to follow the goings-on. Maybe there is and I am not aware of it? An RSS feed, a Twitter feed, etc... No worries though.

Actually, random thought, the whole BG nexus of sounds / projects would be something I would readily subscribe to, were it possible. As in, for some bucks a year, just get tracks. I've always wanted to join a music club for a prolific label or something/someone else I've liked, but I think I was born too late.

Anyway, it is my wish for this thread to continue. How about that CN / CH release eh? LARGE

Aha! Wondrous. Don't know how I missed it but thank you. SUBB'D

Just got back into the studio and found this thread again - you are all far too kind. Thanks to everyone who has come into this thread and expressed some love! Now, to reply to a few things...

I'm a big Milieu fan too! My favorite album is "New Drugs For Nuclear Families Of The Seventies" on the i, absentee label. I wish I could get my hand on the CD copy of this album, unfortunately it's sold out so I just bought the mp3s... Slowly I'm getting into his newer album "Reverb Microcoma [Expanded]", there's some very good tracks there that caught my attention. And the release with Fieldtriqp and Mrs Jynx is just amazing!!

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying Microcoma - some of my favorite Milieu songs are on that disc. If you liked New Drugs so much, I suggest you investigate the following: Colortone, Our Blue Rainbow, Bent Appletape and Echo Spectrum (which was actually a double-single for New Drugs). Though if you want my honest opinion, Swaying Palms is probably the strongest of the melodic electronic Milieu records.

Pawleys island is a good starting point

Thanks for suggesting Pawleys there Mr. Z - I agree that it's possibly the most accessible CH release to date, esp. for parties coming from Camp Milieu first.

To Mr. Facades - I don't want you to take this wrong, but please don't try to keep up with everything I do! I hear this sentiment from people all the time and I always feel a little misunderstood. I'm not putting out so many records under so many names in some kind of attempt to be "everything to everyone", rather, the way I create things is a very natural and very varied process, and the fact that I have been able to sneak by and do it for a living since about 2007 has thankfully afforded me the time and open schedule to devote to all kinds of musical pursuits that others might find decadent, gluttonous, outright obsessed...whatever! I know very few people who have been able to keep up with everything, 100%, since day one, and I can tell you that I am in no way offended when listeners get a bit worried looking at my back catalog. It's best to take recommendations from people, like you've done here, or just grab something brand new and see how it sits with you. As anyone else here can probably tell you, I'm easy to get in touch with, and I welcome requests for "What sounds more like this?" and so on.

EDIT: LADY GAGA EDIT

Haha, cheers for this post. I do actually (lazily) maintain a Twitter feed here, and Mr. Z already pointed out my new blog, which you've followed (thanks!). I also regularly maintain the Facebook page for Milieu/CH here. As for a subscription thing, I have definitely considered it in the past and have been asked about it by a number of other people. The only thing that sort of worries me about undertaking something like that is the transitory nature of my life as a self-employed musician doing this stuff...how I basically live hand-to-mouth and any one month's bills being paid happens when that month's records sell enough copies, then I do the whole thing over again the next month. What this means in light of a subscription service is that there would possibly be months where I'd be so broke from bills and I'd still have to ship out a bunch of music to everyone who subscribed. The only way it might work is if people paid for the service automatically each month with a flat rate, but even then, that isn't much different than what already happens with each month's burst of new releases...

Anyway rest assured I am still considering at the very least doing a series of some kind to fully test out the format of a yearlong subscription service. Something like an EP a month kinda deal might work best for that, starting off, and if it becomes a success then I can easily adapt it to bigger scales...

Hah, totally understand this point. I was loathe to even buy one of Mr Grainger's albums, because I'm a bit OCD when it comes to trying to collect all of an artist I appreciate's work.

However, I buckled and bought a few a couple of weeks ago. Really enjoying Eufloria and Remodelled (<3 As Summer Blooms).

I will probably pick up a few of the Milieu albums each month until I have all those available digitally. Then I'll move onto the pseudonyms.

Also, Facades, I notice we have very similar purchases on Bandcamp. You have good taste sir :)

I've given up trying to collect everything from Brian (I'm not rich enough  ). I'd like to, but I just can't, so I'll pick up what I can by following advices or just luck.

By the way, I really like Pawleys island, thanks a lot for the recommandation!

Ifeelspace, Thanks for noticing! I guess I can't say less about you own tastes
