don't understand the lack of ravedeath appreciation, i think it's his most musically mature work by a mile. I guess it doesn't give the listener warm fuzzies like some of his earlier stuff

Autechre Rule - Queen are Shite

ppl just dont get the idea of the album. they treat it like its ambient music like they can put it at low volume and fall asleep to it or something ,when it is much more in the spectrum of tim hecker music that you are supposed to turn up to volume 11 on a large speakers system

the problem with ravedeath is that there's no tonal variety.. most of the album is in the same 'mood' or key, and the first third (in the fog?) is very tedious, but the latter half is really nice. same complaint goes for these new "sketches," though i haven't heard them properly. tim hecker's music has broad appeal because it beats you over the head, tonally. i'd be more interested if he put more focus on atonal sounds, but still kept suggestions of melody here and there. also, he could do well to use more dry sounds/sound environments, instead of drenching everything in effects/reverb

I've only heard samples of this from Boomkat and just from those it sounds more interesting to me than Ravedeath did. Ravedeath was like a porno showing nothing but hour of continual cumshots - Interesting for those wanting instant gratification but swiftly becomes rather tedious and samey, this however is more like spending an entire evening with a woman that's concluded with a night of passion.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I much prefer the cumshots.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

IF you can handle the site's shit-tastic streaming player, there is an excellent new "fireside chat" with tim hecker here:

Its a combination of interview and his tracks. I recommend hitting 'add to favorites', then 'pop up radio player' from the top of the screen and play it that way

Also, LOL @ pretty much all press using that photo of him standing in the cornfield. Its great
