Welcome new member. I hope you have fun in this friendly forum. :flower:

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

It is telling that the Aphex subforum sees the most new crop. I can't think of another area with more "single dots". It's a perfect sign of the anachronism of WATMM. It used to be that joyrex.com, the Alan Parry/Hyperreal pages and now WATMM were outposts for a manic realization of genius. Now, it's Pitchfork Twin. Techno is not strange anymore, RDJ has a net worth in the millions of GBP, everyone plays synths and knows about rave. It's like this weird, resonating "duh" that boomerangs back at those of us who have been accustomed to "what are you on about?" for so many years.

What are you on about?

There will be new love from the ashes of us.

I'll certainly fix the formatting - never realized it changed that much when we upgraded the forum...

true, they didn't hear it the first time cause they were too young. And now it's not even an historical footnote on the far horizon of their consciousness. So if people want to ask questions and learn more, sure go for it. As long as they're prepared to read the rules. Which state, that they should at least search the forum to see whether their question has already been answered.

ive been a big aphex fan for years. just discovered this site looking for 303descry and metz track mp3.

sweet, welcome. You won't find a released version of the metz track... yet [high hopes] and as for the 303descry, find what you were looking for? it's actually Ceephax Acid Crew - Emotinium II, or an earlier version of it

Richard purposely named some of the Analord tracks after computer viruses (or names that looked like computer virus names) so in case the tracks were ever ripped from vinyl, some antivirus heuristics software would identify the MP3s as viruses and quarantine or better yet, delete the files.

This actually happened to me at the time I was ripping the Analord vinyls to WAVs as I didn't want to bother with a record player just to hear the songs.

are virus scanners that stupid? I thought they'd realize they're scanning a harmless WAV/mp3/flac that only goes by the same name ... awesome idea though, classic Rich.

Nowadays, probably not - and even if the file itself was clean, the name of the file would trigger warning bells in the software's heuristics engine...

Here's what any of you "oldskoolers" should have done instead of being smartarses:

This is why I don't use antivirii. :cisfor:

I remember people inquiring about this on other music forums, as their antivirus programs went off, after which afx fans would explain it all.. and subsequently cirlejerk the shit out of eachother over richard's ingenuity.

why would your anti virus go off, its just the name of the file.

Early antivirus software worked on suspicious filenames as well as file scans...
