To All Proclaiming Revolution

Recommended Posts

It takes more than people just seeing others on TV and trying to emulate with signs and banners, it takes real will of individuals to stand up alone before gathering together and when that does begin to happen effectively it will be kept under wraps by the media. "Heaven forbid there be unrest in our goold ol' USofA" What is shown of the protests in our own land is usually only showing it be controlled, as if to say "Don't worry, things are good here... it's being handled" while they also less obviously use it to continue to subconciously exert their power over us, making us feel that it's useless to resist and that it is being done so only in futility...

I believe the switch from emulation to real action is happening to a certain degree recently, things are heating up but slowly. It will take time for us as an entire unified people to drop our biases of the flawed 2-party systems, and come together and realize how fed up we really are...

Throw a frog into a boiling pot of water,

and it will immediately jump out

Put a frog in a lukewarm pot of water,

slowly turn up the temperature,

and it will surely float to its death.

Something to keep your hope fueled:

백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

But then i'd be the dictator ;)

The great thing is, if you watch the actual film "the Great Dictator" at the end of that speech, Chaplin's character realizes what he's about to become and the emotion that plays on his face is astounding.

백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.

Another powerful speech from the related links:

It tends to put things in a different perspective when a kid tells you a crowd of politicians (and whatnot):

I refuse to click on the link - I refuse to listen to Sammy Hagar.

I think it's a great first step to let the rich shit bags know that they can be held accountable. Just to let them know that people will not be quiet forever. Even if nothing comes from this directly it is a good thing.

i first heard about this 'occupy wall street' thing back in august. initially i was very excited by the idea... started doing more reading about it.

i was vastly disappointed when the status on the facebook page for occupy wall street was "so what is our message??"

wrong order.

not that we can blame anyone. i think the main reason there isn't a particular "goal" or "message" to these protests is... well... where to begin?

the system is so irrevocably corrupted and mired in confusion that there aren't any clear-cut aspects of it to attack or demand change on. sure, campaign finance reform is important. sure, wall street's stranglehold on politics is important. so is ignorance. so is unbridled, childish patriotism.

the idea of "country" is fading - the internet has globalised information and ideas. wars over territory or areas of influence don't happen anymore. it's all about money and information. it's not about america being "the best country in the world" - it's about taking a step back and realising that the ENTIRE PLANET is fucked if we don't sort out the imbalances we've created.

so what to chant? what to hold placards about? a return to the america of 30 years ago? prosperity that inevitably leads to where we are now?

the alternative doesn't fit neatly on a piece of poster board.

so yes, for now, it looks childish. it seems to be (from the coverage i've seen) a bunch of young, hippie / hipster types with time on their hands doing something with reasonably good intentions, but no real conviction.

i predict it'll fade away pretty quickly. nobody is ready to die over anything.

well i... was...

but out of curiosity... do you really believe people are ready to die for their rights in this country yet? do you think the conditions most of us are living in are comparable to those in north africa, syria, or somalia?

i find it a little insulting to the revolutions happening in those countries when the press (or armchair commentators) liken what's happening in the US to what's happening in those countries.

don't get me wrong, i'm all for change, i think things are way broken... and i'm glad people are talking about it. i just don't think we're quite there yet.
