Amazon's Kindle Fire - 7" Android tablet

Recommended Posts

Not bad, 7" Android tab running ebooks, amazon prime, video and app store for $199. Apple might have some competition finally.

not that radical. Opera has been doing the same thing for years for their mobile browser, and integrated the technology into their desktop browser about 2 years ago.

Maybe he just meant like, radical maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.

You know, like Bill & Ted. Something... strange... is caching at the Circle K

Right, but its not quite the same thing as compression/omptimization. Kindof an extension of that.

But OK I'll accept the charge of 'not that radical'.

Then what happens? I'll probably buy one to go on the net when I'm on vacation and the toilet. It's so cheap I won't mind if it breaks or gets stolen.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

I don't give a shit about tablets, but the new e-ink kindle touch looks nice for cheap. I think I'll get one once a couple reviews come in and confirm it's not fucked up.

Amazon is clearly taking a loss on the hardware in the hopes of roping in customers to their other music, video, and book services... and while some people will complain about the 7" screen, it being that small almost makes it more portable than an iPad...

Then again, all Apple has to do if this remotely cuts into their market share is create an iPad Micro/Mini/Nano and be done with it :cisfor:

why do people think this will cut into Apple's market share?

this isn't intended to be a tablet.

It's a kindle. :derp:

but it's not e-ink is it? therefore prolonged reading is going to cause eye-haemorrhaging.

so just because it's not e-ink, it means it's a tablet? :derp:

no, but i'd say that means it's not a Kindle. Or at least, what a Kindle was before this came out, which was an e-reader.

I want color e-ink

as an addendum, the working conditions at Amazon's warehouses give me real pause as to whether to support this company and buy any more of their products. i heard a fireman call into NPR and say they got regular false fire alarms from this location, as it was the only way for workers to get a break and go utside for some air circulation. no door or windows are allowed to be opened because of "theft".

cus it does what tablets do: play media and surf the web.

i can do that on my phone. is that a tablet too?

Amazon is calling their tablet a Kindle Fire because they're not-so-subtly hinting at us to burn all physical copies of our books. I wonder how many people will read Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 on their Kindle...

FUCK THAT :shuriken:

nah man, it's because that shit is so hot it's on fire. And it's a tablet, it has the size, design and functionality of a tablet, the fact that it's branded Amazon doesn't change that. I can't even believe it's up for discussion.
