It's a kindle. fancy e-reader, cheap tablet.. what's the difference. lots of moms and dads and also younger folks will consider the Fire over a more expensive iPad as a christmas investment, especially those who regularly shop at Amazon. this is the first non-Apple tablet that's not entirely idiotic. It likely won't be a deep cut, but a cut nonetheless, and it will set the bar for other-than-iPad tablets in terms of price, features and content. Ego Posted September 30, 2011 Report Share Edit Hide Delete Posted September 30, 2011 I don't care much for tablets but I think Amazon is in a great position to be a serious competitor. Like Joyrex said, they can lower the prices and profit from the synergy with their distribution services. I think they've done a great job on this. Great feature-set, some nice innovations and very cheap compared to an iPad.
